I booked a one night stay in the Travelodge Fira in Barcelona for 11th June =
€160 and as I was only going to be spending at most 3 hours sleeping in there I thought it was a little steep but needs must.
When I checked in, the receptionist told me I was very lucky because the night after (some conference was running) the price was €900.
Actually a big win.

Kitchen tap valve had been up the spout for months [drip drip etc] finally manage to get the company to send a replacement which arrived last Friday.

I fitted the valve in time for our daughter’s 3rd birthday but hadn’t quite fixed it. The type of thing that drives the other half NUTS.

Saturday we were busy all day and having had a sore abdomen that moved to my back Saturday afternoon I phoned 111 who advised heading to A & E.

Cue inflamed appendix, hospitalisation and onto the ward at 3.30am with the Mrs having just left me calling spitting feathers because she didn’t have a functioning hot tap in the kitchen.

She then decided best course of action was her to call me at 4.45am via video call and for me to talk her who has never picked up a spanner before through it.

What threatened to be two potentially life ending situations were both navigated effortlessly. She fixed the valve, replaced the bushing and tap head and fixed an unexpected problem along the way.

As did my surgeon the next day and here I am home convalescing without too much grief.

Mrs P had me down to trim the hedge this morning. Just as I was putting shoes on, it started raining 😂👍

My wife got out a suitcase in preparation for our trip to Dorset next week, unzipped one of the inner pockets and found a wad of cash that we had obviously put there for safe keeping on a previous holiday and had forgotten about!
Win.

Previously posted on here about Booking.com cancelling a booking and me getting a nice alternative place for dirt cheap. Well that booking also cancelled and i then had to find a third property close enough to Tottenhams stadium for the Pearl Jam concert. Managed to find one at midday on the day before the show. Not ten minutes later they cancelled on me (3rd property). I rang up booking.com and had a moan up and they informed me that as all places had cancelled I would receive full refunds. I was just about to pay for my 4th property when a message came through from ticket master informing me of the cancellation of the show. so now have three bookings worth of refunds and 4 tickets worth of refunds all hitting my bank account (around £960). My mate however took booking.com up on their offer to find him alternative accommodation and has now lost £150.
