Very negative stance if you don't mind me saying. My point, however small, was that Friday's home game was pretty dull, we are through and so tonight will be both irrelevant and I fear, uninspiring.

I'm not expecting a classic meself, but that's the nature of qualifiers these days, especially with these expanded groups. When it was groups of 4, with the top 2 going through, then at least every game had an edge, there was less margin for error. But that format was binned off to sell more games, more TV rights. Not Englands fault.

As for my "negative stance" - I'm not the one calling tonights game pointless dross.

Harsh words on this thread. The fact that we're already through is good for a couple of reasons. (1) We're through (2) Some of our younger players get the opportunity to play in real fixtures (i.e. a fixture where we can't make 12 subs).

I'll be tuning in to see some of England's future players play in a Euro Qualifier.

Agree. When was the last time England genuinely played exciting football? Always play not to lose

Are you actually joking?!

No I'm not. It's a genuine question

We've just won 9 out of 9 competitive games and you suggest England play 'not to lose.' That's not even an opinion - the facts prove you wrong. You sound like a Man Utd fan from Surrey 'yes we've won the league again but we're boring to watch.' Unreal.

As for tonight's game - there really is nothing on it thanks to another faultless qualifying campaign. We're playing a largely 'reserve' ish team tonight - what a luxury to be able to experiment...!

Seems fashionable to slag off the national team. Yes they'll probably let us down again, yes it'll probably all end in disappointment like it always does. But what am I gonna do, support Germany ?

I want to be on the bandwagon just in case one day they actually do something in a Finals. I'm not going to hop off and on according to who we're playing or how much is at stake.

Always play not to lose

Not in this group we haven't. 100% record. Even if we didn't have that it's not the way anyone's going to go against, say, San Marino. But, as it goes we STUFFED Switzerland away just to kick it off!

Gone for a 2 or more goal win.
Love England games, those that mock are too thick and dull to realise they are missing out of some of the most memorable days their insular lives will ever have eg St Etienne 98, Wembley Holland 96, Munich 2001, Hampden 99, Old Trafford 2001

The plus point is Milner gone home the downside is starting with that work horse Shelvey in a game as meaning less as this one I expected to see some attacking flair.
