The dull part of the south coast
truly as applicable , pertinent or poignant today as it was all those years ago when it was banned from cinemas in sussex when it was first released .....a stunning indightment of human stupidity and in my view if was released today would still be ahead of its time .....kudos and RIP to Terry Jones , Graham Chapman A
and did i hear Terry Gillian died also .....absolute cinematic genius ......bats spleens , ocelots earlobes , otters noses.....always look on the bright side ...:bigwave:

Blessed are the cheese makers! :lolol:

My favourite film. Would have to be adapted in the modern age but is still funny start to finish. I still laugh when I shouldn't..

As an aside, has anyone ever spotted Spike Milligan's cameo ?

Of Course !

My favourite line .. and I feel bad for saying this is after, Graham Chapman says to his mum about Naughtius maximus.

"you mean he raped you?!!!" ."... well yes ... at first"

It was also banned in Aberystwyth; ironically Sue Jones-Davies, who played Judith, was Mayor of Aberystwyth.

They also had a major issue with Equity as they did not like the idea that they played all the parts, Equity wanted more actors involved.

I was told today that it’s been downgraded to PG, but I struggle to believe that. The People’s front of Judea sketch surely wouldn’t pass for PG?

As it's called the Life Of Brian

Perhaps the view rating could be called BG, in homage to a certain former poster on here :)

Love it too.

Biggus Dickus....

Release Wodewick. He's a wobber...and a wapist...

The People's Front of Judea scene is right up there with turn it up to 11. We use it at work as euphemism even today

No chance of it being made today today

I saw it in Worthing when it came out at the Odeon, and I'm pretty sure that was in 1979.

are you sure ....i remember wanting to go and see it at the Dome and it got taken off before its first showing ....maybe it was re classified not banned , i was 12/ 13 at the time

Definite about the date, I was talking about it a few weeks back to my mate who came with me to see it. We both remembered still being creased up with laughter about the film when we got back to our car which was parked just round the corner from the Odeon. (I was 26 back in 1979)

definitely remember not being able to go and see it for some reason ....either the dome wouldn't show it or they changed it from general to adult.

Love this film. Saw it when it was first released at the cinema down at the Old Steine (now long gone and I can't remember the name). I can remember the religious nutjobs with their placards demonstrating against it outside the cinema. That was nearly as funny as the film.

And the travelogue "short" before it with "more of those ****ing gondolas" :D

Brilliant stuff. Happy days!
