Done business like that for years - not just in conveyancing where buyers always love a cash purchase, especially when there is a large chain - I’ve found cash payments always win hearts and minds when it comes to paying tradesmen too - although these days the birth of online banking and demise of cheques make that no longer a thing..
As you say, neither way is right or wrong - whatever works, works.
I have actually paid over the odds on a property I really wanted too just to ensure a buy in a crowded field.
