I think the midfield has been more organised defensively since the Forest defeat, so the back 4 are less exposed. As well as being a bit quicker, Webster has always said he prefers playing on the left of the centre-back pairing and it really seems to suit him. Not so sure Lewis is as comfortable there.

Odd that when Dunk and Webster played together that Webster was Right and Dunk was Left then.

Yes. It is odd. When he joined us, Webster said, “I prefer to play in the left side of defence, but I’ll go anywhere as long as I’m out there on the pitch.”

I seem to remember Potter mostly playing him on the left around the time he was being linked with an England call. May be wrong. I think it was De Zerbi who preferred him on the right.

I suppose Lewis like the left too but I don't think his left foot is as good as Webster's.

No - he's always played on the Right when he's played with Dunk.

I've always thought that Dunk is our most competent LCB but his natural position is RCB. He was at his best there when Colwill played at LCB and I think that the club have been trying (and failing) to find a top-quality left-footed-CB partner for Dunk since.

I'm a big fan of Igor but whilst he is a fabulous squad player, he's never broken down the door to be a regular starter. Cashin will hopefully grow into that role and be that player...

I take the point, probably getting confused with Dunk switching to the right of a central pair under De Zerbi. He has played on the left of Dunk in a 3.

So I was wrong to say Lewis is less comfortable on the left - seems he prefers it too. However, it's a fact Webster also prefers playing there, seems to thrive there and, I think, has a better left foot. The position seems more natural to him.

Yeah it's an odd one.

I always felt Dunk was slightly better on the right.
I wasn't aware that Webster preferred the left.

Seems strange that they never swapped sides, when playing together (or if they did, I don't recall it)

I wouldn't be surprised if Casin turns out to be another Matt Clarke. Bought as cover wouldnt be surprised to see us bring in a left sided centre half in the summer and loan Cashin out
