I'm not so sure. I think its a possibility he would go for £40m even if he might be worth more. How important was Dunk in keeping Brighton up in the Premier League these years? Pretty important, from what I've heard. So he probably played a huge part in the club making £300m or so. If he wants to play a couple of years in Chelsea I dont know if the club would really stop the deal because of the difference between £40m and £50m.

We will see... £40m is just paper talk... remember, club before player EVERY time for Tony...

I read Veltman’s signing was years in the making and that we may have helped with with the “premier league” get out clause in his contract. Hence the $900k. Don’t know how true that is?

All true, according to reliable Dutch journalists. Brighton's third year chasing him and last summer they were about to sell him but Overmars decided to keep him as De Ligt moved, but gave him a clause saying that he could move to his favorite league (the PL) the next summer (this one).

The Argus are suggesting he is off too in today’s article. 40 million apparently
No they are not.

While Brian Owen is on holiday the argus have parachuted in someone from HQ who just repeats internet rumours from other sites.

You need to wait for Owen's return before bothering about what the argus says.

But I am saying that your valuation is too low... so, don’t be surprised if the price is higher than you think...

Pointless discussion though, because if he does go, the fee will be ‘undisclosed’. It ALWAYS is with us [emoji23][emoji23]

Maybe take for granted just how good he is sometimes, a damn site better than many CB's inc David Luiz and Harry Maguire........ that block at 7:35 is nuts.

If he wants to go he should be allowed to leave. Amazing servant and absolute legend.
But, i get the impression that 99% of all media transfer news atm is being created by gossip on forums and twitter. Or just made up.

(the lack of marketing photos IS a concern though- guy is a bloody hero, IS Brighton, why wouldn't you have him wearing the new shirt?)

Because he’ll be front and centre on the away kit??

I know it's a YouTube highlights video and any club would be fully aware of his strengths and weeknesses without resorting to YouTube but, that really does do him justice, Chelsea or Spurs should be saying £40-50 million, where do we sign.

Selfishly, hope it doesn't happen.

Chelsea are interested in a potential transfer deal for Brighton and Hove Albion defender Lewis Dunk but are yet to make an approach for the player.

Dunk, 28, who captains Graham Potter’s south coast side has seen his stock rise since the Seagulls returned to England’s top-flight in 2017.

The commanding centre-back has played a pivotal role in helping his side establish their position as Premier League regulars and looks like a player who could shine at a bigger club.

Despite failing to add to his single international cap back in 2018, yet another fine campaign from the Englishman could see him enter back into the England fray after making 36 domestic appearances and being directly involved in an impressive goals.

Dunk’s future has been cast into doubt, however, CaughtOffside has recently obtained information from a source that any reports stating he’s closing in on a move to Stamford Bridge are not a true representation of Dunk’s current situation.

We understand that Chelsea are interested in Dunk as they look to bolster their defensive options, however, the Blues are yet to make an official approach for the Brighton defender.

A secondary source has confirmed to us that Chelsea are primarily looking for a centre-back with Champions League experience who can have an impact on the squad.

Whether or not a summer transfer deal can be struck between Brighton and Chelsea remains to be seen, however, at this point in time, the interest has been there, but the approach has not.

Talk sport just said info from the club is that not planning to sell Dunk and he’s happy to stay.

Guess that would’ve come from Paul Camilin to TalkShite. Let’s hope that’s the case... Surely the Argus will have some info from the club soon?!

Perhaps they haven't got the new club number

Looks like the Sun is full of it as usual then..

I was concerned that this may be a legit move, but obviously great news if it’s all bs.

How about this for next weeks announcement.

News and promo shots of the away kit, with our new CB pairing for next season... Dunk and White.

Would be glorious scenes.

Andy Naylor (The Athletic) , Brian Owen (The Argus) and Tom Barclay (The Sun) who all either Albion correspondents or near enough are all currently on holiday.

I would guess that it will largely depend on whether Chelsea can re-sign Declan Rice.
If Chelsea fail I'm sure Lewis Dunk won't be far down their shopping list.

dunno I'm lost
I'm led to believe that LD won't go THIS window.

I'm sure I'll be lambasted if it all goes belly up but I understand there's ongoing discussions between certain parties concerning release clauses should the appropriate offers be tabled.

As far as I know this is the delay with certain players contracts and assurances of who goes/stays.

Very interesting to see how it pans out.

This must be the 12th window in a row:

- that club sniffs around a Brighton player = means he must be leaving - cue 1000 page thread speculating what happens if this happens - but then he doesn't. Rinse. Repeat. Next window.

Bloom doesn't sell first choice players.
