Not anti-bonfire society in any shape or form. Just want Cruella forced into a corner so the in-breds of Lewes make :tosser: signs at her instead of me - and follow through at the ballot box.

Tho if truth be told, don't give a f*** about the bonfires cos got no intention of being squeezed into the sidestreets of Lewes while random chavs lob randon hand-held firworks randomly with no chance of even a drink in a pub to dull the shite queue for the terain back to the sanctity of BN1. Stick it up your arse basically

Whilst I'm 100% in favour of getting even with LDC at some stage, it strikes me that the best thing that can possibly happen in the current circumstances is that Ruth Kelly's department DO ACTUALLY REPOND TO LDC BY THEIR DEADLINE OF 1st JUNE. If this doesn't happen, LDC has yet another lame excuse to delay further, as the issue can't be discussed at their meeting on 6th. On the face of it, LDC are absolutely right to point to the fact that they responded to the ODPM in 19 working days, whilst it took the ODPM four months to do their bit. To the casual observer, it appears that LDC are acting quite reasonably in comparison to the government. I have no idea what's going on behind the scenes here, but surely someone somewhere must have the ear of Ruth Kelly, and ensure she gets the message that things need to bl00dy well speed up.

I don't think they will reply by 1 June; for two reasons.

1) This is a self generated deadline by LDC. The Government won't be wanting to be seen to jump up and down just because a bunch of Lib Dem squirts in a little town in SE England say 'frog'.

2) It is apparent that what was ODPM and is now DCLG is, following the reshuffle, in a state of leadership chaos. Anything big in terms of announcements is likely to be delayed whilst Ruth Kelly says things to her senior civil servants like "what exactly IS Planning Policy Guidance; anyway??". Whether of course our little local difficulty comes under the DCLG definition of "big" is, of course, another matter.

3... LDC YOU WILL BE EXPOSED FOR THE MILLIONS WASTED. WE ALSO MAKE SURE THAT OUR CLUB GETS ALL OUR MONEY BACK.

4... CONCENTRATE ON THE INCINERATOR AND SEWAGE WORKS YOU f***ing MUPPETS, THESE ARE REAL THREATS TO THE ENVIROMENT, NOT A f***ing STADIUM THAT BRINGS REVENUE TO THE AREA AND IMPROVES THE LOCAL AREA.

Please, please guys, don't even joke about letter bombs etc.

If they can get hot under the collar about a poster claiming they murdered a football club, they will have a field day with those sort of comments.

I suggest we make ourselves as annoying as legally possible for LDC.

Find out when all their meetings are and go and sit in on them, making noise if necessary. Object to every single application they put in, for planning consent, anything. Write them frivolous letters about nothing in particular, and then complain to them when they don't reply (if you've ever read that book about the guy who sends ridiculous letters to important people and companies all the time, you'll know what I mean).

But keep it all legal!

LDC have reported this thread to the Old Bill, and have sent out a memo to staff advising them to be on the lookout for suspicious packages. ???

Good points. However the June 1st deadline is to the Treasury Solicitor not Ruth Kelly's lot. Even so I doubt if the TS will act that swiftly. Alas it will mean that Lewes DC can say they have done all they can and I regret that most folk will agree with them when their press release appears in the Argus and Sussex Express. THat was the reaction by folk at the Cricket at Hove on Tuesday/Wednesday when the Argus story appeared.

My guess is that some informal discussions are taking place perhaps between the legal boys to see if there is any common ground. I doubt there is and Lewes will have their day(s) in court.

I know you have a certain vested interest in saying that, but why should we keep it legal? The democratic process, despite coming out in our favor, has failed us. Petitions, leaflets, marches etc will have no effect, they'll just be ignored. Even peacefully disrupting Council meetings (which is a good idea) is a bit gay. It's all very nice, twee, middle-class protest. We need more than that now.

I hope so. That's the great thing about hoax bomb threats, they can cause as much disruption as real bomb threats but no one gets hurt. Everybody wins!

One would hope they haven't taken it seriously as I would suggest to them that noone is capable of sending a bomb in the post. There are other ways of defeating them and that is through the proper channels and 'winning' our stadium on merit.

Right, I'm going to be serious. I can't believe that LDC (or Sussex Police) are so bollock-brained that they think if people were planning to send explosive devices through the post that they would discuss it on a public website such as this. I've re-read this thread and NO ONE has actually said "Let's send a letter bomb to LDC". The expression 'paranoid wankers' springs to mind, and paranoid wankers who can't read very well to boot.

Still, if it's caused a bit of disruption and wasted some official's time (and LDC money) reading this thread, reporting it and sending out a memo when they could have been doing something useful - then job done. If they are THAT easy to wind up then we ought to think up a few more stunts like this.
