Lewes Distric Council. Ideas..?

Turning the focus on LDC's condoning of the bonfire parades would just show them up as being backwater/backward slightly sinister creeps that they are.
Can I throw in a word of dissent here?

As someone who was educated by Irish nuns, I recognise genuine anti-Catholic prejudice as a real phenomenon that is as distasteful as any other form of discrimination.

But that's not what Lewes Bonfire is about. And I speak as a member of the Cliffe Bonfire Society. Not the only one from a Catholic background, either.

Interestingly, Ann de Vecchi is already known in Lewes as a fierce opponent of bonfire. She was lampooned as an Enemy of Bonfire (alongside Norman Baker) back in the 1990s. To wade in and accuse them of being pro-bonfire would simply send out the message to people in Lewes that Albion supporters didn't understand the place.

Sorry.

Surely such lampooning couldn't possibly occur again this year....could it ???

certainly not from the fans whose proud battle cry was once "Build a Bonfire"....

So Lewes people are pro-Bonfire, like Albion fans. But their Council leaderene is anti-Bonfire? Only one response then.

Burn her? :flameboun

That's the spirit. I've still got a load of Semtex in my office I got from an Irish mate (he said they didn't need it any more in his demolition business), I was going to use it to blow up Forfars but Lord Bracknell told me not to.

We could use that, it's on the desk in front of me, I'll just give it a p

Whilst I'm 100% in favour of getting even with LDC at some stage, it strikes me that the best thing that can possibly happen in the current circumstances is that Ruth Kelly's department DO ACTUALLY REPOND TO LDC BY THEIR DEADLINE OF 1st JUNE. If this doesn't happen, LDC has yet another lame excuse to delay further, as the issue can't be discussed at their meeting on 6th. On the face of it, LDC are absolutely right to point to the fact that they responded to the ODPM in 19 working days, whilst it took the ODPM four months to do their bit. To the casual observer, it appears that LDC are acting quite reasonably in comparison to the government. I have no idea what's going on behind the scenes here, but surely someone somewhere must have the ear of Ruth Kelly, and ensure she gets the message that things need to bl00dy well speed up.

Another example of Cruella DeVagi being totally out of touch? Nothing new there then.

Without sounding pathetic, we know very well that the LDC read these pages and I hope that they haven't taken the bomb posts seriously. Could it make them more determined?

Edited: Now reported on.

It's not pathetic-we all know how those chinless wonders have no idea when it comes to separating reality from frivolous statement. I'm surprised it's not yet in the Argus:

Maybe we should find out just how much LDC council tax money is frittered away monitoring NSC?
