You appear to have missed my point completely, I made no mention of political agendas or who is likely to do well at the next election, mine was about the benefits through history of migration to the UK.

Well i disagree with recent migration and so the millions of others. It's driving wages down, crippling the nhs, huge waiting lists for homes, crime rising even know this government is massaging the figures.More traffic on our roads etc etc etc

I voted for the crewe option as im looking forward to it. Although i almost voted for the "i live in brighton and dont like pride" option. It doesnt interest me, with all the strange people around, it just makes the town a lot busier. I also had to travel further because they closed my local station(preston park) and had to get a diverted bus into town in order to get a train to luton. I just think perhaps another city could have a go at hosting it.

I have to agree with you Gully.

Without "immigration", the human race would have died out thousands of years ago.

Besides, Immigrant is a word misused by the right wing press anyway...My ancestors were from Ireland, Spain and Wales so that in effect makes me an immigrant. Yet, my family have lived in the south of England for over 100 years. My grandparents fought in the wars in the early 20th century protecting Great Britain, but by blood I am an immigrant.

The trouble with having a prosperous society is that people from other parts of the world want to come and live here...Why do you think that India and Saudi Arabia now ranks above the United Kingdom for it's number of migrants?

The one thing that is worrying is the scale in which British communities have been taken over by Asians and Eastern Europeans...Look at some parts of London, Bradford & Birmingham and the norm is to speak Urdu or Czech or Bangladeshi...This is where the government should take more control over immigration...

The language issue is one that interests me, yes there will be people who come to the UK and struggle to learn English, their children will be taught it in school but will probably speak the native tongue of their parents at home...however, when they have children of their own there is every chance that their only language will be English as they have no real need to speak the language of their grand-parents...thus by the second generation the original language has almost disappeared completely. You then have people with fore-fathers from a particular country, which if they visited themselves would be unable to converse with the native population.

I can speak from experience of living in a country where English was not the native language, I made an attempt to learn the local lingo with a fair degree of success, the majority of my British ex-pat colleagues made no attempt whatsoever...is that any different to people who come to our country and don't bother trying to learn English, I don't think it is.

Buzzer, you are a shitty left wing PC loser whose toleration of everything sums up why this country is going down the pan. Bet you love immigration too.

who can honestly say (by the fact that they have gone back and checked or done a DNA test) that they are not the product of an immigrant?

I think HB&B and his chums can take comfort in the fact that their hostility to Pride will confirm to the gay community that there is still a NEED for the event to be held in Brighton. Well done.

But what do I know? I'm only a descendant of immigrants.

Just got back from Pride, was an awesome night last night, brilliant atmosphere, and from what I saw, there was very little trouble.

For all those who are being critical of pride - you're missing out on one of the best weekends of the year. Brighton was a gay capital of the UK before you were even born, if you don't like it, then move away, it is that simple.

I've just got home from an event in Hove (organised by a Jewish charity, as it happens). I can confirm that bowls was still being played as I drove past one of the local bowls clubs.

Has life returned to NORMAL already?

What crap. I have lived in Brighton far longer than these gays have and in fact I lived here when homosexuals where imprisoned. So because they now choose to come and live in my City I must move out?
I have no problem with what they do in private and I admire them for trying to make people aware of their discrimination, but I think Brighton has now fully been made aware of their fight, so should they not now take their fight to other parts of the country and make them aware.

100% Correct Doug. But in such numbers?
I don't know how old you are but when I was a kid I was brought up to believe it to be wrong, as this was then the view of society. I know we have moved on from the dark ages when men and women went to prison for this. And as the Church today still will not accept it, I cannot understand people banging on here calling people Nazi's because they also do not agree with homosexuality, why not call them Christians instead of Nazi's?
