They're all surprised he's coming to us. They seem to think he's good enough for La Liga and that whilst the Championship is probably a step up from the Segunda, they think Almeria are a bigger club than us.

Cheers, seems fair enough although I know little of Almeria in terms of size I have always been under the impression they were a yo-yo club between the top 2 divisions much like West Brom of recent times. Sounds very positive though

Marca.com just updated the report - José Leonardo Ulloa, the Almería forward, will soon be unveiled as the latest signing of English second-flight side Brighton and Hove Albion, coached by Gustavo Poyet.

The Argentinean frontman, who moved from Castellón to Almería in 2010, will join other former La Liga players such as Bruno Saltor, David López, Íñigo Calderón, Andrea Orlandi and former international Vicente Rodríguez.

In order to complete a quick sale, Almería had made it very clear that Ulloa was transfer-listed and it didn't take former Zaragoza, Chelsea and Tottenham player Gustavo Poyet long to decide to sign him for Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Almeria board hadn't ruled out selling the Argentine striker if a temping offer was received during the winter transfer window. The Spanish second division's top goalscorer of last season, with 28 goals, has barely started a game this campaign and was ready to pack his bags during the summer, but none of the offers received for him convinced the Almeria president to sell.

How would you feel if we forked out £3.5m for this big lump of lard?

How would you feel if this "lump of lard" actually did the business for us ?

A bit of a cock I'd expect, well more of one now than writing off a player you probably haven't seen play who has a good scoring record.

Doubt it's £3.5 Million either, more like £2.5 Million

lol,,,I really don't know...One half of me thinks he could be fantastic, come in and be a cult hero, bang in goals left right and centre and really prove a wonderful buy. The other half of me thinks he will be complete shite....I think his debut(if he signs) will be one of the eagerly awaited Albion debuts in a long time.

I'd be delighted, and not too surprised either. I'm sure this guy has some pedigree, and it'd take a truly shit striker to be on less than twelve goals this season with the amount of chances we create during games. I've been told it's £3.5 million, not hard to believe if he was being scouted by La Liga sides.

If it was the same problem in August, then why didn't we do the deal then so he'd have the passport ready for January 1st, instead of leaving it until now and risking the same thing happening again?

Good grief, our club can be embarrassing at times.

I'd imagine that a simple explanation would be that back in August he hadn't lived there long enough to even apply.

Now he has he can.
