Knight just needs to remember the phrase "there's no I in team"

I suspect McGhee will be having a quiet word or two in private about todays performance when being substituted!!!

Mainly his frustration that he had not scored being channelled in the wrong way

McGhee sais at the end of last season that Cullip and Knight were to both be offered longer contracts; neither has agreed or signed yet

Once the likes of Lee go at end of October we will have a little bit more in the wages budget.

Also after about 10 games or so McGhee will have a much better idea of how he wants to spend anything left in the wages budget

I suspect both of them will wait to see how we are doing at Christmas before committing themselves to a contract.

Whatever you say about him, he is a class finisher. Give him the ball near the goal and he will score 20+ this season. He does not work as hard as Zamora and that's possibly his big weakness - he always looks for the ball delivered to his toe - but overall I think he's a better finisher. I would rather him be pissed off for being sub'd than shrug his shoulders and shuffle off.

Cannot understand the knocking of Knight - it's out of order. He looked lively and dangerous all game. He is also playing with an injury - how can his attitude be wrong.

As for being pissed off about being substitiuted - excellent - he cares! That is the attitude of a winner, not somebody happy to settle for second best.

Leon is a legend and a top class player.

I believe he has been offered a new contract but has not yet signed. Anyone able to confirm this?

No - he has not yet been offered a new contract.

I think that he may have been expecting one during the summer, but it failed to materialise

The trouble with Knight is whatever he does and if he works hard the attitude never changes.

If we survive this season it will require a real team spirit and a lot of effort like today.

I am not convinced Knight is up for that.

I don't expect to see Knight next season whichever of the three possible divisions we're in. I thought that today he could have watched Adam Virgo and learnt a hell of a lot. Given that he's been gifted with ten times Virgo's natural ability it would be good if he could put in a tenth of the effort, because that would make him a terrific player. This season the chances are that we'll need battelers; that doesn't mean we want effort instead of skill, but that we want both, and I for one have my doubts about his ability to deliver that.

he ended up drifing on to the left wing a few times, then he'd cross the ball in and no one would be there.

Would people please stop knocking Knight. Without his goals last season, we wouldn't be where we are now. Let's not forget that.

I agree completeky that LK's goals got us where we are, but what fans want is to see players being the best they could be, and doing the best they can for the team. With Knight the suspicion gnaws that there's more available, but not being displayed.

Blimey. I hope we hold on to him because he's a rich talent although I'm sure something of a challenge to manage.

Niel Warnock stated that Virgo was his man of the match and his effort was tremendous and at times ran past Leon Knight to get a challenge in on a defender. McGhee cant allow Virgo to burn himself out doing Knights work aswell.

But why not - that should be the job of the 6ft plus striker - whats the point of Knight putting himself about - hes not going to get anywhere is he with his size. He should be hanging around on the shoulder of the defender waiting for the chance to use his pace

It's one game in many. If Leon Knight or any other player gathered a poorer attitude with every week, he soon wouldn't even start. In the games I've seen him he had a great attitude.
Give the lad a break, he's looking for a goal and obviously feels he needs to stay in the game to get one. He'll soon get them, and he'll make them, and I think he's probably as hungry as anyone to see the ball hit the net.

added to which, Virgo being a defender you'd expect he's going to win some of those challenges in potential very dangerous areas, with Knight hopefull able to capitalise on.

I dont have time for Knight. If he scores great, but i generally dont like people with his kind of attitude. Virgo is a man he could learn a few things from.

I have to agree with this, God he scored in the final at Cardiff and not taking anything away from last seasons achievements, but I am concerned with his attitude.

I thought he worked hard for the team, was unlikely to score today, as scoring a number of goals didn't seem to be McGhee's priority. He will start to score, but only when he gets plenty of service and support.
