Leeds Home. Shooting ourselves in the foot again...

The visit to withdean of the league leaders should be a massive occasion and one which we should be looking to fill the ground and give our boys as much support as we can to take what would be a massive three points.

But oh no...

The club insist on getting carried away with restrictive policies to make it as difficult as possible to get a ticket.

its bad enough paying £26.50 to watch a team with the second worst home form out of the 92.

But then they slap on this
must be on the database, one per member blah blah blah

so now if i wanted to sell a kidney and attend the game, my friends who aren't on the database wouldn't be able to?!

These rules really wind me up.
Especially as generally its SO easy to get tickets for an away game.
(e.g. Wycombe FA Cup - just turn up)

Seems to be just us who don't want to fill the stadium

I simply bought one on my friend's behalf, problem solved.

I have mine and his tickets for the game on my desk right now.

If people want to go then this database has been around for years. Anyone with any interest in the Albion should be on there by now. Its to stop the thousands of Leeds fans without tickets from causing mayhem in the Brighton sections, which to me is pretty sensible.

Yep, got the same issue with some friends who are keen to see the Albion and the first game they're free is Leeds. I've tried talking them out of it but to no avail.

Emailed the club about it a little while ago and they say tickets will be on general sale from November.

Of course by the time the game comes round I may well have moved to London for a new job, but hey ho!

I went into the club shop on Monday to buy my Hartlepool ticket, asked when the Leeds tickets went on general sale (so I could buy one for the aforementioned friend, having already bought mine a few weeks back) and was told I could buy one right then and there, so I did.

Agree that its the best way to keep Leeds fans out of our section, but its the one per member thing that really messes it up.

Obviously I'm on the database and a few mates, but when its Leeds it attracts extra attention from people that have never been before - and now won't be able to because of the policy.

its not as if we'd sell out and should have reserved the seats for superfans is it!?

I see. Well I am headed into Brighton today so I shall attempt a purchase. Thanks for letting me (and everyone else here) know.

What is the problem. Do we really want leeds fans spread around the ground, of course not. Hence the database. It's not foolproof but it's better than the alternative. The things people whinge about on here is unbelievable.

I'd guess they have to do it to stop loads of Leeds fans going in our our.
Yeah. I'm no fan of the ticketing system, sales incentives or marketing campaigns of the club but even I can see the logic in this. I'd much rather see empty seats than pockets of Leeds fans scattered around. As it is they WILL get in, this just limits the scale.

Sad, but there you go.

I do agree, it is stupidly hard to get an Albion ticket if you've not been in the last couple of years. A mate of mine tried to get one on friday afternoon last season and he hadn't been to withdean for a couple of years, they told him he had to download and fill in a form before he could get a ticket.

I think the problem is when trying to encourage new fans they're hardly going to be enticed (aside from the exceptional value for money and stunning football on display) when they're told they have to fill in a load of forms to actually be allowed to buy a ticket. You would think for a team that never sells out we'd just let people who want to give the club money buy a ticket when they come into the shop.

I can see the logic here as others have said with Leeds fans in our section, but really how many of them are going to come to Brighton days before the game to buy a ticket in person?

It seems fair to me that fans that have been to other (less attractive) home games this year should be given priority for the 'bigger' games. Having gone to the Walsall game, I apparently get 'priority' for the Leeds game - not that I'll be going. Anyone who has been to Withdean in the last 9 (or is it 10 now?) seasons should be on the database.

You have to be on the database at most clubs nowadays to buy tickets.

Feels like a little bit of justice in how the club's policy for this game has backfired after they gave it all the "buy a ticket for this and that game if you want the slightest chance of a Leeds ticket". The tone of it just felt quite arrogant. I've only gone to a handful of home games a year since giving up me season ticket in 2002 and it always feels like they want to make getting tickets for Withdean as unappealing as possible.

Isn't our highest attendance something like 8900 vs leeds? Near sell out if you ask me.

Seems to be just you who ignores the restrictions the club has to work with in order to be playing at Withdean (and Falmer soon). Which part of 'No turn up and pay on the day' do you struggle with? There are ways to buy tickets up until close to kick off-if you are on the database.

As for your other moan about restricting members to one ticket each-if they'd allowed 2, 3 or 4 per member you'd be moaning about that if your non-member, not on the database friends missed out. It's quite simple for your friends-become a member or buy tickets for another game so they are on the club's database then they won't have the problem again.

The really bad thing in all this is that a women that works with my girlfriend really wanted to take her two boys and their mate, simply couldn't be arsed with all the bullshit, rang Pompey..f***ing pompey and got 4 tickets piece of piss, roughly same amount of time spent on the train, worthing to fratton as opposed worthing to preston park, well done Albion, three more young fans lost forever.
