Hows things at Brighton?

Leeds United fan in peace here.

Now i have been to the Leeds v Brighton games in the last few seasons and inparticularly i was impressed by your side last season. I seem to remember a whole load of youngsters playing good football on the deck. Dean Cox stood out for me as a real good little player.

Now Micky Adams is someone i have a lot of time for. He has a great managerial record and therefore Brighton were an outside tip for the title in my opinion. I even staked £1 on them at 26-1.

Yesterday all the kids seemed to have been replaced? I was sat further away but the players seemed much older and Cox was on the bench. Signing players like Savage is a backwards step in my opinion and i wondered just what you guys have thought about how things are going down there. The away crowd themselves were a LOT quieter than normal.

Heres hoping you turn things around soon WITH Cox in the side

What a bunch of f*cking idiots responding to bhadeb on this thread. She may bang on too much about Wilkins etc, but this is absolutely SPOT ON. Thicky Adams is playing Virgo right midfield, an unfit Hawkins at centreback & the team has lost any sense of direction. Adams has been AWFUL as manager this time around, and Knight has made a huge error in replacing Wilkins with Adams... anyone can see that.

Last season we at least tried to pass the ball, we were compact and hard to beat away from home. We had young players like Lynch, Elphick, Cox, Robinson & Fraser playing. Now we have older players like Savage & Hawkins, as well as a variety of random loanees.

What a joke this season is turning out to be. Ian Hart may think I'm a window licker, but I am firmly in the Adams out camp

He is also probably reffering to the 2 superb young centre halves in Lynch and Elphick that kept them (and Forest in the next game) out superbly last year. All of a sudden he sees Hawkins.

i am not kebab and never thought too much of cox from what i have seen of him but the point bright on q makes was raised by several of us on the kop during the game, what the heck is hawkins doing in your team? last season (at elland road at least) you played like a team, might not have been world class football but you all were trying, 11 men after the same outcome. it was a dull 0-0 draw but is was obvious from the kick off that that was exactly what you came for. on saturday you played like a bunch of individuals. i thought you looked a far worse team on saturday to that that came to elland road last season. and that isn't said to rile you lot, far from it, just being honest.

savage was woeful, fab is a kid (and a good one at that but young, inexperienced) and he ran around savage - thought he'd have a better reading some of the stuff fab was doing you could see it coming and savage was still chasing shadows. i don't particularly rate savage but thought he'd have been a bit more interested that he was. not going to do much for his future playing like that. was a great pic in the yorkshre post of fab leaving savage on his arse. we don't like him much at leeds so it's good to see him bottle it like he did and jamma to kick lumps from him, blood on your boots and all that. am led to believe he got a nasty recption at the players entrance and the rest of your squad laughed at him. don't watch you guys week in week out but seems like a very odd acquisition to your squad from saturday.

our defence is wobbly wouldn't have taken much to get through, our keeper is a real flapper, that is our weakness but there was nothing from you guys to exploit that.

anyway, was good to meet some of you lickers pre game. hope you don't play like that too often, will be a long winter if so.

Thanks Starry...... pretty much summed up how I felt this weekend... addmitedly only from hearing it on the comp.

Seems even when bhadeb has something important to contribute some people just don't want to know. Guilty before being proved innocent?

Thank you bhadeb for posting this.

Oh dear, what is our fan base coming to?

Any need for that?

He is just giving his opinion, I know that is something that some struggle to take on board, but at no point has he been rude or on the wind up.

For the record if people are not a tad concerned that would be more of an issue to question our fan base. No league wins since August is not good form.

No wins of any sort since August actually (unless you count penalties).

I think when you have a player like cox in the team from so young and for such a long period of time you focus on all the negatives first. OK, so he never seems to beat a man down the outside (I thin he did this a few games back at withdean and created a goal) and he very rarely gets corners/crosses past the first man BUT he is a quality player. I would imagine he would get into most sides in this division, in fact I would say he would get into every single squad in this league, we really need to get off his back.

Interesting observation. What do you think he brings to the team to deserve your 'quality' remark?
