After starting out in labour, via a stint with the tories, Anderson is about to join the new British fascists. Heartwarming scenes.

Mosely went Tory, Labour, Fascist, so there is a small difference. And unlike Mosely, Anderson does not have the 'breeding' (or sense of entitlement to be precise) to presume to become leader.

The question is whether Sunk's reaction will be to follow his brain (and draw the tories back to the centre) or follow his other brain and attempt to 'out-****' the facists with new ludicrous right wing policies. My money is on the latter

The tories have gone so far to the left , they are like the Labour Party of the 70s and 80s

Yes Michael Foot and Liz Truss are almost inseparable in their political positions. :lolol:

Oh wait, you weren't actually serious.

Or were you?

I can no longer tell. Well done everyone!

Sadly , I think you are correct and the Tories will keep moving to the right.
It will cost them my vote and hopefully many more.

Yes, a bewildering post that had me considering checking through his posting history to check whether it was a joke or not.

Until I realised I really couldn’t be bothered.

What's he doing? Is he actually joining a party with fascist in the name?

The man is a far right tit.

It's pure self protection. Ashfield was a 70-30 in favour of Brexit seat and he's hoping that sees him keep his seat.
Look like he's going to Reform UK, he knows his career as an MP is done.

Getting an improved contract on Geebies will be his main priority, with all his expenses gonna there's a big cash black hole to fill.

Voted for them in 2010 but not for the foreseeable, they need some time in the wilderness to reflect on what they've done to this country.

For every vote they gain on the hard right they will lose 2 in the centre ground. Too easy for Starmer, wish the LD would get their sh1t together

OK.

Surely the interesting question here is .... will others follow?

Could this be the domino which leads to further defections and threats to depose Sunak.

Could Sunak press the GE button in response?

I'm watching this space

I should be happy (that labour's chance of winning is increasing) but I'm not. I don't like to see politics debased by this sort of craven opportunism. It smacks of selling one's soul to the devil, to me.

In the case of Labour, when Blair embraced capitalism and binned clause 4, it seemed like a breath of fresh air. An end to 'no compromise with the electorate'. A method of bringing elements of socialism to society without going full command and control. It seemed like a noble compromise. For two terms, it worked (till Blair lost his mind over the dodgy dossier - an utterly needless bit of tomfoolery).

But embracing hate and prejudice in order to harvest votes from people planning to vote for fascists.....what kind of strategy is that? Blair, nice and accommodating. Sunk, snarling hate-monger, wasting billions attempting to post foreigners to Rwanda. What a repulsive turn of events  What principles, what humanity draws a man into thinking this is a great idea? It beggars belief.

He's just joined 'reform uk'. I'm happy to lable them fascists. The Grauniad has just broken the story.

Reform UK "Let's make Britain Great again" https://www.reformparty.uk/

Leader Richard Tice

He clearly has a plan how to make himself rich, sorry I meant Britain Great: "In October 2019, openDemocracy revealed that two offshore companies had owned shares in Tice's family business, Sunley Family Limited, since 1994.[48]"

While i'm not a fan of Reform UK, fascist is a strong word with a specific meaning.

I've not seen evidence they have tipped over into fascism
More crypto fascists at this stage, admiration for US Republicans etc

But what if this probable duck was born in the hen house, is it then safe to call it a chicken or is it probably still a duck?
If the duck ends up in the Hen House of Lords, it's probably still a M'Lard.
