HERE'S AN UNUSUAL ONE , Reading away at ELM park, anyone remember the incident at the gates when BRIGHTON fans were held back and some folk decided to over turn a wooden structure to try and force their way out of the ground , seemed everyone wanted to get out sooner rather than later that day................

Yes remember the tea hut going over wernt there fireworks as well Got arrested as when the gates opened surged into a copper and he nicked me then after a minute another coppper came over and told the arresting officer to let me go .... then on way to train station it kicked off in an off license me and a couple of mates where in and the two coppers came in and hauled us out !!!!

2005 after game walked freely back to Norwood.

Pompey mid 80's. Lost 5-1. Kept in afterwards for half an hour in the pouring rain with the police laughing at us. They then all jumped into their vans and went off for a cuppa leaving us to be bricked and kicked by the Pompey mob.

Millwall away in the mid eighties, we had about 200 there if that, we won 1-0 and had an interesting trip home that included the train being bricked

Think that must of been the game Mick Ferguson scored ending their long undefeated home run. Got run all the way back to New Cross Gate station.

Getting hoarded on to the South Bermondsey platform, with all the other BHAFC fans and subsequently caged in. Only as I lived quite near the Den at the time I had no intention to go to London Bridge. Had the police officers open the cage door and had to walk through the waiting mob of Milwall fans who were pressed noses up to the cage door happily shouting abuse at all the seagulls inside. Luckily it had been a dour draw, I think it was the game Harley took that penalty, and the atmosphere wasn't too hostile. Only had to endure homophobic abuse and no violence, having my girlfriend with at the time made the jeers a little ironic.

I had a similar situation a few years back. Except the police wouldn't let us out and we got put on a train to London Bridge in spite of the fact that my car was parked next to the station!

Believe it or not...Oxford's manor ground was a bit lively. Walked from some pub through loads of little alley ways with loads of little chavs watching us. never felt so uncomfortable

Weirdly that's one that sprung to my mind. I remember walking through Oxford past a pub that suddenly filled with balaclava wearing students who proceeded to attach Brighton fans behind me. It was very unexpected.

Some very scary away days like Cardiff, Oxford & Hereford but by far the worst for me was actually after a West Ham game at the Goldstone in the early eighties (I think).

We were sat on the top deck of one of the old football special buses that used to run from all over Brighton to the ground and park up along the Old Shoreham Road.
Then a few hundred West Ham "fans" came charging up one of the side streets followed by loads of police horses.

They made a bee-line for our bus and started rocking it from side to side. That was bloody scary!

Walking back to the Albion coach park after the Play Off Final V Bristol Shitty in Cardiff was pretty unpleasant as you
had to walk right through thousands of angry Cider drinking, straw chewing inbreds to get there, throwing bricks and bottles at you.

Sheffield United away in 78/79 when Malcolm Poskett scored our winner was not nice. In those days the 2 teams came out separately before the game, and the Albion were out first to cheers from our away following. Then United came out, and there was a very loud 'United' from right behind us, as the away end was full of them. After the game, the police did not do an escort back to the station, but rather gathered in groups of 4 or so at each road junction, with United fans in between looking to pick people off. It was a case of a sprint to the first set of coppers, pause for breath, then carry on to the next.

I can also remember coming back from possibly Notts County in about 82/83. There was always one train back to Brighton from London Bridge that was possible to catch, and if not, shoot over to Victoria for a later one. 5 of us ran through the Underground up to the main station at LB, and were noticed by a group of lads. Got to the platform just as the train was pulling out, and on turning around to go back, noticed that this group were now at platform entrance. One of our group decided to try and walk past them, whilst I and the others kept in the darkness at the end of the platform. After a few minutes we went back where the one Brighton lad was waiting for us. He had apparently been pushed onto the floor and just as they were about to put the boot in, one of them said take this Tottenham scum. He shouted out he was Brighton. They immediately stopped, let him stand up, and said they were Millwall and had no problem with Brighton, and went on their way !

Once got away with getting a kicking simply due to a mate that was with me. Years ago we went to Bristol Rovers when they were playing at Bath, and after the game, me and 2 mates were walking back to the car when I heard a group of about 6 Bristol behind us, and one them said "look they're Brighton, lets 'kin have 'em". Fortunately, one of my mates was about 7 foot and built like the proverbial brick shithouse, and one of the other Bristol said "**** that mate, have you seen the size of that c***"

now we have the option of staying for a beer or a stroll to the car/ coach / train i was thinking of some bad experiences, one that springs to mind was Southampton away at the old dell, i'll hold my hands up and say that it wasn't a pleasant experience ON MY OWN AND HAD TO RUN A GAUNTLET GOT TO THE STATION AND GOT SUSSED ON THE PLATFORM anyone else

Yep, I can relate to that one,.... 1980 or 81 I think, cant remember the result, but there was some very large hairy-arrssed skinheds lurking across the road as we got let out of the cage ( I hated that place),....it was a real run for your lives moment because we were outnumbered 10 to 1 easily.
