Way out west
Elm Park, easily the worst day out of the lot, the local police (Thames Valley) must rate as the most intrusive and anally retentive bunch of people I have met this side of Christendom. Why is it necessary to go through someones pockets, including a detailed search of their wallet and its contents, before admitting them to a football ground. That treatment left me speachless at the time, if it happened today I would make a complaint to the local Police authority.

The old Bolton ground

handy yellow line on the terrace defining where you should stand if you wanted to see the pitch

shithole pub nearish the station for an hour or two before the game - even shitholes deserve saving

FA cup 3rd round - cold, miserable

racial chants on the way back to the station under police escort

McCarthy handball giving away a penalty 1-0, out of the cup

Bolton, it's not all Peter Kay

However, Withdean's the worst ground I've seen a game in

Thanks for that!.
1 of the many grounds & games I've been able to expel from my memory, & you've brought the whole nightmare flooding back.
Oh well no sleep for me tonight, cheers.

Rotherham. what a total dump the town and ground is.

the walk to the club was reminiscent of the opening scenes of terminator..

east stirling, basically just a pile of rubble with some grassy bits..

How would i know?I'm pissed.
Cambridge was a joke.....had to walk through a cowfield to get to the away end!???
Also Aldershot was a dive but you could jump over a pathetic fence to get in for free:lolol:

I did not say Lincoln's was my least favourite...I was just following on from someone elses post.

Apologies - that's what I get for not properly reading the whole thread before posting. :dunce:

Mind you, I can't work out why you think Grimsby is the worse ground, either!

Sudbury is by far the worst I've been to but least favourite probably goes to Griffin Park as I've only ever seen us win oncce there. The last two visits for 4-0 defeats would be the reason why.

If it was still being used then the Dell would probably have got my vote!!

Call me old fashioned but I like a bit of tradition as opposed to some of the soulless new creations we go to; so I'd nominate somewhere like Stoke rather than Rotherham.

However there is tradition and there is also "a bl**dy mess" which is what Port Vale looks like with its 1/2 finished stand; and Carlisle with that stand where one end doesn't even face on to the pitch but the end terrace.

I also think its a bit unfair to criticise grounds like Sudbury; after all they aren't in the League or even the Conference.

For least favourite bogs the old ones at Rochdale, before they developed the away side took some beating. In the gents there was no roof; only a wall which came up to neck height meaning you did not miss any of the game whilst 'easing' yourself. No escape from Ashley Neal even when you were having a slash!

Mind you, remember the bogs behind the North Stand???? Ugh...

Been to a few Italian ground in my time, makes me wonder if they have any regulations there. The Siena one below - look familiar? Thats now a Serie A ground. Underneath is the Venice ground, who I saw play Atlanta, and was in that tall stand behind the goal. Looks rickety, but remember to add the wind blowing in off the Adriatic!

Not until you read a thread like this that you think back to some of the crappy grounds we have been to. The memory probably distorted slightly by the fact that this year nearly all the grounds have been quality in one way or the other.
To pick one is hard, but Cheltenham probably.
But mentions to Macclesfield, Mansfield before redevelopment, Doncaster.
