The difference is about 6 years of age and realising your last chance at a big deal is probably in the next 3 weeks. It’s very easy to do what Mac has done in his situation - particularly having just signed a new contract - it’s not the same for Trossard.

If he doesn’t go this month now he’s unlikely to get much football with us before the end of the season which is going to hurt his value even more.

If Trossard believes he's good enough for a big club then obviously he'd have fancied his chances of playing a lot for us over the next few months, and then he could have got his move in the summer, when most transfers happen.

My prediction was kind of right then. No one really wants him that much and are certainly not willing to pay the money. Now he probably thinks he could be stuck until the end of the contract.

I think we’d do a deal at around £25m - but I think an international loan with fee is the most likely outcome

Maybe - but the emergence of Mitoma and Ferguson have put some question marks over that and his behaviour since the World Cup puts him well down the pecking order with a lot to do to come back

Yep. Downing tools is not a good option for him.

He may well get a decent signing on bonus if he leaves on a free in 18 mths, but his overall value will be far less by that point.
Plus he will be stuck on our wage structure ( with no bonuses) for a year longer than he needs to be.
By that point, it is far less likely that a Prem club would still be interested and lets face it that's where the big money is.

If no-one comes in for him with a decent offer, in this window, he will have to build some bridges back with the club pretty quickly.

The club has already demonstrated that our players will get their big moves with little resistance if that what is what they want.

Now is the time to demonstrate that we will not give in to player & agent insolence, as an attempt to orchestrate their own move.

Personally think TB should hold out for big money. £30m+. If nobody is willing to pay it, then Leo has the rest of the season to knuckle down and work hard for a big move in the summer, in a more professional manner.

I doubt he will want to play for the reserves for 18 months. 18 months is a very large proportion of a footballer's career. Even money cannot trump time.

Even more so since he turned 28 at the beginning go December. He's realistically got another 2-3 years playing at the peak of his career; the last thing he'd want to do for his career is waste 18 months of that time not playing competitively. He won't be nearly as attractive to the top clubs in August 2024 after such a long lay off and 4 months short of his 30th birthday.

Gil is younger and VERY similar. Kulusevski is far better and Son is far quicker. Richarlison is the next cab on that rank.

I posed this question to a couple of the Spurs fans on here and their opinions were pretty mixed. I think he'd be the next Bissouma there. Loved by Brighton but m'eh to WTF to their fans when he starts 10 games a season, scoring and assiting once.

I was looking at their main message board last night. General consensus was.

1. Significant downgrade on what they already have.
2. We shouldn't be buying anyone who's acting the bellend.
3. Conte wouldn't want him.
4. Need a right back and cb not another squad attacker.

I appreciate they don't get to choose.

Something like that probably - although not just De Z, apparently a ‘senior player’ (possibly called Adam Llama or something) called him out and they had a bust up. Based on yesterday’s performance the squad don’t seem to be missing him too much.

It can go completely the other way in fact. Anyone who's played football at any level - even schoolboy or Sunday league - knows that when you have a moody arse hanging round the place everyone perks up when they finally bugger off. Even of they're a good player.

I bet they're happy not to have to listen to him sighing and tutting through his Granola in the morning.
