Alternatively, perhaps the club have outgrown Trossard.
Or, the manager has just managed to publicly piss off and fall out with our top scorer and one of our biggest assets. Who was probably going to be sold this month or the summer anyway.

I understand the inclination to back the manager, particular after Trossard’s petty statement, but we don’t really know what’s happened and what’s been said/agreed behind closed doors.

He’s our top scorer !

The big factor is wages, we are still pretty low payers so it is easy to lure away our star players.

But I’m sure this will slowly increase if we can consistently finish top half

Trossard is one of the best players that’s ever played for this club. Unfortunately he’s a representation of what we now stand for, a feeder club for the big boys once a player has outgrown us.
Yes he's one of the best players that's played for us. We have always been a feeder club for the big boys and always will be, just like Ajax.
However, he's not a representation of what we've become. It's what our plan is and is our best chance of remaining a competitive top ten side in the best league in the world.
This episode of club discipline is what we stand for, with behaviour that we refuse to tolerate, and it's absolutely brilliant.

p.s. Top marks from @Hamilton for sharing the YouTube clip from above of Robert deNiro in The Untouchables. 👏👏👏

He's also currently our top dickhead.

Hopefully, with our goals coming from all over the pitch these days, the concept of top scorer and star player will mean less and less in future.

I do wonder if RdZ hasn't quite engineered the situation, but has rather exploited it for his own gain.
Sure it's a bit old skool, you'd have thought probably too old skool, but it does rather nod to:-

- last teacher caring and thoughtful.
- new teacher wants to make his mark and crucially distance himself from before.
- kerfuffle insues.
- opportunity arises.
- hammer crushes nut.
- rest of the class on bestest behaviour.

I think people are backing the club against player power. It’s an important principle in building a strong squad mentality. RDZ is simply the one articulating it. The alternative is there for all to see at Chelsea. Well done the club.

Yep, a tried and tested method that isn’t in the training manual (y)

………but completely out of form since the WC and totally deserved to be dropped. If he can’t deal with that by getting his head straight and knuckling down the there’s no place for him.

Which is fair, but I don’t think it’s accurate to say we’ve outgrown him necessarily

I have a friend who is a director at a Championship club and is well connected to some of the big EPL sides through the FA. He said before this blew up that Trossard was being actively touted around months ago by his agent and suggests the player was determined to leave in January.

And so it came to pass………..

I'm not so sure about Spurs. Is he going to oust Son, Richarlison, Kane, Kulusevski? He's miles behind them. With the guy they bought off Fulham he'll be comfortably 4th or 5 choice. Also a slightly mardy 28 doesn't really seem like their profile. You'd imagine given the way this is how he's chosen to exit that unforgiving taskmasters like Conte or Simeone would be the last sort of managers who'd want him.

I can see Newcastle throwing money at him. But if he doesn't like the weather in Brighton....
Yes I agree that all makes sense. I looked at what odds the bookies were giving and for some reason they were shorter on Spurs than anybody else. Mr Z is generally passionate in his player support so yes Trossard has much to do if he wants some sort of happy ending to this.

Also the agent is set to normally get a nice cut of any transfer fee. therefore any player showing signs of wanting a change would be encouraged by said agent.
Yep - most agents are snidey little shit stirring feckers.

And if true, which I suspect it is, it just shows what agents are like and why we should take that agents ‘story’ with a huge pinch of salt. Poor from Trossard if true.

I think that trossard was always likely to go either in this transfer window or the next. His behaviour and form may cost the club a lot of money though pre World Cup possibly rated at 50 million, we may be lucky to get 25 now it is known that he wants away. Hopefully we can get a few clubs competing for him and get a decent return on our investment.

Before this toys out of the pram, with a year to go on his contract and age 28, I envisaged £25m.

Is there any past experience that these fall outs cut fees in half?

Maupay and Cucurella went for top dollar and some.

I have always been in awe of his abilities but , how he can have worked alongside players like Lallana , Welbeck and Dunk and seemingly learned chuff all about how to conduct yourself is just crazy .

Total respect to all the grafters at our Great club and what a top man in charge in RDZ , quality . And what a parasite this comhair must be , Leo must be some dumb %$*^ to think this leach gives a damn about what is actually best for him .
