I can't believe all the "get rid". You can't seriously believe we are better off selling him, he is our highest goalscorer this season. I hope he sees the error of his ways, apologises and knuckles down and we see the old Leo again. We are a better side with him in our team for sure. I don't think he will do this but lets not kid ourselves that we are better off getting rid of him. I suspect we now won't get that big fee as a result of all this.

It's nothing to do with his ability. When someone acts like a Dildo to get a move, threatening the balance and harmony of a squad that have come through tons this season, and on the edge of something special you have to dispassionately recognise what that means. Take aim and get shut with the minimum collateral damage. Otherwise you have a resentful player moping about who's clearly not on some if the players Christmas card lists who AT BEST might half agree to play ball for a bit only to sod off in the summer anyway. He chose this path. Let him walk it. I just hope we use the cash in this window.

BDB did it the right way, and good on him, he’s doing fantastically well.

Unless I've missed something, you must be referring to buonanotte who we agreed a deal for in November, took effect on January 1st and is expected to go into the academy, rather than a first team. Plus, my post was meant to be a tongue in cheek example of the panicky rants we'll see if we lose tomorrow rather than an accurate reflection of reality.

Maybe. We could play really hard ball and keep him here while his value diminishes - teach him and his agent the difference between furthering their career and trying to sulk their way to big bucks. Might cost us a few million - but compared ti rhw amounts we are dealing with for sales of our players. peanuts.
Good lesson for all - sign for Brighton to get a good chance of breaking throught to the first team, and as for progress the club won't stand in your way ................................... but f*** us around and see who can f*** hardest!

I find it amazing how some players who are so handsomely remunerated cannot honour the contracts that they've signed.

All Trossard had to do was to put 100% effort in for us until the end of the season, and we'd of sold him in the summer with the best wishes of us fans and the club. He could imo have then signed a chunky contract with a top tier club if he'd continued his early season form.

Now he comes across as a bit of a tosser, hasn't played well in a while, and will probably sign for a underachieving, overpaying 'big' club without much hope of winning anything meaningful. Sad, really, I think his time here has demonstrated that he can be brilliant at times, but for large parts painfully inconsistent so not gutted to see him go.

I thought Bissouma acted like a model professional too, made it clear he wanted a move at the end of the season and had no intent on signing. But played to his full ability with 0 drama.

DBD was a bit out of nowhere, he was gone so fast.

The agent wasn't very ITK then! Not a good idea to go public in the way he/she/it did! When conducting negotiations, best not to piss off the major players, especially the ones holding all the big cards!

He wants to leave us and now. Pretty predictable really, at 28 he has to contrive a situation where he can escape the final 17 years of his contract. To win trophies at Villa, Spurs or Everton, it’s his last chance.

Once that happens, other than the examples of Kane and Zaha being kept as (highly paid) prisoners of Levy and Parish, the game is up.

Keeping a miserable face around the club who’s fallen out with RDZ and Lallana, is of no benefit to us, if anything it’s disruptive.

Sadly, I do think that Leo is probably one of the most skillful players I have seen at the Albion in 50+ years.

Even more sadly (particularly for Leo), he is only a part of what is DEFINITELY the strongest Albion squad ever.



And a tip for Leo. With what you're paying you really should be able to get an Agent who could put together a better case

I’d agree with one of the most skilful - but with a tendency to shine in the big games and disappear in lots of others. Which maybe suggests his motivation’s never been the best. Can see a richer club picking him up, where he’ll be a bench warmer who gradually loses what seems to be fragile confidence and more or less disappears off the scene.

Not that surprising that grumpy looking player who was part of a mass grump at the world cup (where some players refused to speak to Trossard I understand) acts like a grumpy child when he didn't get what he wants (encouraged by inept agent).

£50K a week (give or take a few £1000s) doesn't buy apologies in this day and age!
