I'm particularly pissed off with Alpecin today. Instead of trying to get riders into the break, they wasted all their energy bringing back the 20 man group chasing the 3 man group first thing.

I had Mozzato and Bettiol in that 20 man group. If that group had joined the front 3 it would have definitely been a break day and I'd have two good riders in it with an excellent chance. Now, it's still the break takes it but without my two in there

Commentators mention Groenewegen.

If Dylan makes this finale I'll eat my Marcel Kittel hat :lolol:

Kirby just saying he... 'knows Groenewegen gets up hills'...

Pelton racing again now...

Nah, GC teams just controlling and spoiling behind the late to the party Bike Exchangers.

I'd love it to all come back for Mozzato to win the sprint or Bettiol launch a late attack. Not going to happen though unfortunately.

Probably, but there is ~250 m of climbing in the next 20 kms, which will play into the pelotons hands...

And more roundabouts than you can shake a stick at, which will play into the break's hand :p

Although bike exchange need some friends!

Perhaps they should have been more friendly earlier with Lotto Soudal and Alpecin

18 kilometres to go.
Just enough time for Kirby to name every rider in this break as his favourite from the start of the day

Clever move by Pedersen, making it a 3 man sprint rather than a 6 man sprint.

It's all very well being easily the fastest sprinter there but having to mark 5 moves in the finale was never going to be easy.

Chapeau.

That was phenomenal by Matthews.

I can't remember a ride like that - when he's reeled in, dropped, seemingly broken...but comes back to catch and drop Bettiol.

And then the Pogacar/Vingegaard battle. Wow. I thought, earlier on in this race, that Pogacar had won it by about stage 5.

This is a truly great TdF.

Loved that finish, well done Matthews.

After that brave break, I didn’t want Bettiol pipping him.

Seconded.

He doesn't tend to be a particular fans favourite. Often regarded as a bit of a Simon Gerrands MkII in terms of wheelsucking.

That was definitely an heroic win today though. Brilliant to see. Chapeau!

Matthews grit when Bettiol feigned greater legs/power after passing him was the key imho.

Same here, we thought we in the middle of an Indurain-esque procession for years to come. Thank god for Vingegaard, Thomas, Yates.
