I may be wrong, but I thought Gus said he would only sign players now who were better than we have......not just to 'compliment' what we have already....?

Read a skysports article (i'm 99% sure it was skysports) that said Sheffield Wednesday had a 200k bid rejected earlier in the transfer window, and that Rotherham valued him somewhere nearer 500k. Not bad given what we paid for Murray, and Le Fondre's record is better.

But like others have said, too similar to our 3 best strikers.

How is Le Fondre's record better than Murray's!? That's like saying Matt Tubbs is better than Rooney!!!! Beyond belief this...........

ok - let deal with the fact both from Le Fondre's point of view and ours...

1. Le Fondre or anyone else we sign would NOT replace Barnes, CMS or anyone. Instead, they would be bought in to COMPLIMENT our existing strike force and give us, like it or not, the physical presence and ability to hold the ball up in attack, which we don't have at the moment.

2. Le Fondre is untried and untested at this level. So is Barnes , so was Shane Long, so was Grant Holt and endless amount of other strikers and so in his defence, yes it would be a gamble, but he could be as prolific in the Championship as he was in League 2 but no one knows and it's going to take a brave manager to bring him to the championship.

3. You cannot compare his goal to game ratio to anyone else, it's the best in English professional football and so far this season played 4, scored 4

4. He is ONLY 24! f*ck me...Even I didn't realise this...Since he's turned 21, his goal ratio is 1 every other game - that's an UNBELIEVABLE goal to game ratio for a player under 25

Therefore, if he is going to cost £500k and Poyet believes he can do a job, then f&ck it I say - I hope he gives him a go! He's as much of a risk as CMS at this level and look how he's doing!

What are you talking about ? Barnes so far proven in Championship, Le Fondre proven in League 2. I honestly believe he would NOT make the step up.

4 games = Proven in the Championship now ??
Granted Le Fondre isn't proved above league 2, but I can be pretty sure in OUR side last year, partnered up top with Murray he WOULD have got more goals than Ash. (And No i'm not Mr Burn's in disguise)

I said "so far" proven in the Championship. He certainly proved himself in League 1, something that Le Fondre hasn't done yet. I can't believe people can say he is better than Barnes. Is he gonna be our number 1 striker when we reach the Premiership, I fcuking hope not! Like ERNEST said, someone like Grant Holt, (or Ebanks-Blake or Bednar), a 6ft plus striker built like a brick shithouse to offer us something different and with proven experience at Premier/Championship level......

His age makes him a target. Poyets typical signing is 24-26. Young enough to mould, old enough to know what they're doing.

And he is six foot. Not that short but I agree not a target man.

CMS, Barnes, Hoskins and another top notch striker Gus is trying to land... that's an amazing forward line for the Championship as far as I'm concerned! We've only just got rid of one moody northerner, let's not bring in another!

Sorry mate meant ALFs record is better than when we forked out 300k for Murray at the time, as he had i believe only played in league 2, so if 500k is as sky say true, its not a ridiculous amount. Clearly Murray now has the better record.
It would be a gamble, some pay off, others don't. But given our current strikers ability its a gamble we don't need to take, lets put it towards a target man.

Has Le Fondre scored 20 in league 1 in his first full season? No. Has he scored 4 from 5 in the championship? No. Is he only 21? No. I would certainly choose Barnes over Le Fondre any day of the week.

Same as.

On this site Le Fondre has a bit of William Wallace about him, he doesn't just score goals - he shoots lightning bolts out his arse. Would rather have what we've got, he ain't all that. Look how well Davis, Holroyd and Robinson do in that division

Adam LeFondre = Craig Davies . FACT

I was thinking Liam Dickinson, but similar thinking. Not in style of play, but in that he looks like a striker who will look good at a lower League team, but will be unable to step up. Someone will probably make an expensive mistake, but I hope it's not us.

Indeed. Could be quite handy having him in the dressing room if we find ourselves a goal behind.

He could get Le Fondre to tell CMS he's got nice hair or that Barnes is the best penalty taker at the club and watch them score a hattrick each in the second half.

haha - so used to my Iphone sorting out my spelling mistakes!
