This is one of the greatest films of the last couple of years. A totally unexpected treat. A strong cast with an intense and interesting storyline with a message to tell.

Anyone else seen this ?. If not get it out.

Shit. How odd. The guy is the dvd store recommended it and said it had the best word of mouth of any film in the last year so I went with it, and he was right. Each to their own. It was the best thriller type film since Taken but not quite as good as Taken 8.4 imo.

What is a good film then ?. I am sorry this does not follow the line of Kermode and the Guardian critic but Taken is SUPERB and Law Abiding Citizen is but its " Hollywood " and of course EVERYTHING that comes out of Hollywood MUST be shit, right ?. I like all sorts of films but enjoy a good thriller of which the above 2 are great examples. I also rate highly Vantage Point which no doubt is SHIT as it is made from a main studio and not some obscure independant film maker with a studio in Hackney and and old camera and tripod. Come on give me the opportunity to rip this piss out of your film tastes.

I agree, Taken was highly enjoyable in a ridiculous, dumb, OTT way and those type of films are enjoyable so achieve what they aim but i can't describe them as "great" (i thought Law Abiding was poor tbh and nowhere as good as Taken).

As for my taste, recent faves have been: The Firm, Adventureland, The Road, Precious and Zombieland so criticize away!

an obvious response. I wouldn't describe Zombieland or the Firm as "worthy"!!! And who cares if they were. Plus nothing wrong with being pretentious if you ask me, most "art" can be described as pretentious. Both The Road and Precious made me cry (what a big girl!) so if it emotionally engages me then it is a "good" film imo. I don't care what a film is about, just like the fact that i like most types of music (well, not really RnB) if it's good it's worth watching.

As for the other blokes opinion about Knowing, i enjoyed that one aswell.

But really, Law Abiding is shit.
