Tevez scored 19 in 63 for Man Utd, Berbatov's ratio is almost identical at 9 in 31, but Berbatov has created more chances.

The stats from their careers show that Berbatov scores more and creates more than Tevez, therefore if Tevez = £25 million then Berbatov must be around that figure, or certainly upwards of £20million.

Yes but you're forgetting, like Murray, he LOOKS bored. Whereas our enthusiastic lads like Tevez and Revell look like Collies who have been shut in all week.

Thus, better players.

Again, I want to stress, I don't mean to be assessing Berbatov, I use his name as an example, I simply think these stats are meaningless and proove nothing, answer no criticism

Sorry mate but I think you're arguing yourself into a corner where your next logical argument would be:

"Well all the goals he scored could've simply bounced off him."

I'm simply countering people who think he did nothing last season, just because they didn't see him running around like an idiot. Whether he did things on purpose or not, he DID things.

He wasn't a flop, the stats can't PROVE this but they help highlight how involved he was.

When alls' said and done, 9 goals and 10 assists is a good enough return for a striker NOT to be considered a total flop.

Wardy used to, in his best scoring periods for us, stroll the halfway line all game, waiting for a punt to come out of defence and set him free.
Legend, and I doubt he even bothered to 'assist' all that much.

So - are United affording themselves a luxury player?
Maybe they can with ease, since Rooney is so willing to chase back and win the ball. Berbatov has a deceiving way of lagging with the ball, but the confidence to keep it in the face of several opposition hounding him for it. Ferguson likes that, and so does his squad. It is a necessary talent in modern football, as bull-at-a-gate one-direction-only football is a thing of the past.
For us, Cox does it quite well, he'll turn back from an attack and go for a better pass or better position to make inroads.

Remember that cup match a season ago when Nani was 'showboating', and the Arsenal players were starting to kick him instead, out of frustration and embarrassment? Well what Nani was doing is the face of modern football, and Arse had better like it and get used to that.

I f***ing HATE Berbs, but he is the most gifted player in the top flight, He makes the game look easy, His job is to score and create not to win the ball back.
