Cheesecake Factory is one of the best chains in the States in my view. We were in one in Chicago (under the Hancock Building) and were approached by a "Brother" and his entourage complete with an entire jewellery shop of bling, silk suit, bandana et al. - fearing the worst we spent the next half hour sharing stories about our relative lifestyles and comparing ink after he insisted on buying us drinks because he loved our accents. Just a great memory and afterwards the barman confirmed that our newfound friend was indeed a major gang figure in the neighbourhood and not someone he would have approached uninvited.

Love the US almost more than anywhere.

Also prefered the casino at vibe at MGM.

This bit surprised me - I really didn't like the casino in the MGM. Just little things really - I have no problem tipping when I'm brought a drink at a table but in the MGM, without fail, the waiting staff either thrust their open palm right in my face or helped themselves to a chip from the table. As I say, I'll happily tip - but that's just RUDE.

Having said that, gambling in the Bellagio will be expensive - you might be lucky to find anything below a $15 minimum bet anywhere. I love to gamble but I love New York New York's casino - you can still (as of last June) gamble at $5 tables which works for me!

I've never actually stayed in either though...

One tip for Vegas though - make sure you do the breakfast buffet at the Wynn at least once. It is unbelievably good. I had a 10 course breakfast there once - each course superb - and didn't eat again that day.

If you want to save a little money and still have a top class experience consider a penthouse at the Mirage.

The Mirage is a classic vegas hotel and better value for money, its not quite in the Bellagio mould but you wouldn't be disappointed at all.
I have stayed in, The Stratosphere, Mandalay Bay, Cosmopolitan, Mirage.

If you want a balcony overlooking the fountains then the Cosmo is the way to go, also better value for money. Always thought the Bellagio was a bit over rated.

Stayed at MGM in August this year. Booked a tower spa suite with hot tub and room was huge. Would def recommend this room type.

Great pool facilities at MGM if that is what you are after. Also prefered the casino at vibe at MGM.

One thing to ignore is when people tell you there is loads of walking involved. If you are a 25 stone yank you may have a problem, but never found it an issue and everywhere is flat unlike Brighton.

Whatever you choose, have fun. Hoping to go back again in August this year.

True about the walking apart from the stratosphere, in a grim area and bloody miles from anything

We got a great deal in TI last year for 2 rooms, which I liked quite a bit.

I've just booked The Casino Royal for April, which I am sure will be a shit hole but the location and price was top draw

Four of us going in March for 5 nights and have just booked the Excalibur as package with expedia, hopefully be ok, last time I went 5 years ago I stayed in stratosphere which was good but seemed miles away from the action at other end of strip. I actually preferred Fremont street when last there . I did the canyon helicopter last time aswell so this time will be more relaxing if possible in Vegas .

On the strip NYNY is my favorite but Mirage was also good. Think a stay at the Bellagio is a bucket list item that we'll get round to sometime.

It depends on your budget but the hotels you are asking about are not in the same category.
Luxury - Cosmo, Aria, Bellagio, Caesars, Venetian.
Good value - Luxor, Mirage, Tropicana, Planet Hollywood.
Budget - Flamingo, Circus Circus

I have stayed at Venetian, Bellagio, Mirage, MGM, Luxor, Tropicana, Planet and riviera and each gives you something different as all different locations.

I have only been the once, but it was amazing. We stayed in the Palazzo which is a (relatively) new hotel linked to the Venetian. It was excellent, and I would defo recommend.

My boss has been a number of times, and recently came back from a week staying in the Wynn which he thought was the best of the lot... He is not someone to shirk expense, so I doubt it was value for money however...

Must do's: Cirque du Soleil (there are a few different shows but all are excellent), Blue Man Group (amazing, and something I was not expecting!), KOBE STEAKS!!!, pool parties, and just the surreal and absolutely unique vibe of the Strip... sadly we missed out on the helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon - but this provides us with a reason to return.
