The Argus covered it. A few hundred people gathered at The Level for speeches (there’s an aireal photo), then marched around Brighton with sit downs at The Clock Tower and Palace Pier Roundabout, sang “All Coppers Are ********” and finally protested in John Street.

I could be wrong, but it looked like there were no clashes.

What on god's green earth have yoof got to protest about now?

Not the infamy of the Quatar world cup, I'll wager.

When many people died in the construction.

Oh, and there's all that Covid shit. More than 120,000 dead.

Student loans, is it. Lucky to be a student, surely?

Someone on the green wing correct me, now, please.

History repeating itself 52 years on, with anti establishment and anti lots of things protests?

I worked with an older bloke who had protested in his youth in big numbers outside John Street station in about 1969 or thereabouts. He hated the police with a passion then, but by the time I knew him in the 1990’s he was pro police and anti anti’s.

A devout Labour supporter btw, not a Gammon, he despised the Brighton Tories and Green parties.

My wife said her crew on the ambulance got delayed to an emergency call earlier and got diverted.

Hope the delay didn't affect anybody. Not due to finish her shift until midnight so won't get an update until she comes in.

To be fair, we are all exhausted with the pandemic. I'd like to think ordinarily we wouldn't allow the government to reduce our right to protest to such a degree?

So the protesters surely have a point here.

And it's important to get across that the powers in the bill that reduce the right to protest aren't just during the pandemic but are ongoing.

When a Home Secretary judges protesters by their excesses and the authorities by their best you know there is a problem.

Going by radio interview today with candid participants, it’s a mix of people.

Thugs who appear also from other towns, who simply hate the police and any order of society.
People genuinely concerned with the new bill before Parliament.
Anti vaxers and covid deniers (proven by banners at last week’s scuffles).
Many people, especially the young, are simply so frustrated now with lockdown. Missing out on all the normal spoils of being young.

Three step plan to deal with these march for marching sakes mugs (apologies to the small minority that may know what they are their for right or wrong):

Water cannon
Hand out bars of soap
Then to send them running, hand out a map with directions to the job centre

Sorted.

They were protesting about the police trying to stop protesting. Bunch of unwashed idiots, letting off flares outside the police station, shouting **** the police, calling them wankers etc.
Police should've tear gassed the lot of them for breaking lockdown rules.
