Protesters? Bollocks! 90 percent of them were there just to get a selfie for their Facebook timeline!
It seems to have passed most of the people here by but Priti Patel is trying to get a bill through parliament that will fundamentally reduce the democratic right to protest. Not during Covid but permanently. Police will literally have the right to decide which protest they deem acceptable or not. Very very dangerous.
I think it is fair to say that many of our forefathers in history have died fighting for our democratic right to protest about things we don’t find acceptable. You could argue that we fought a world war to protect our right to voice disproved at our rulers. When people start to realise what is going on here these kill the Bill protests are going to grow to huge numbers and good on them. This Bill must be stopped.
I’d suggest reading up before lazily criticising others.

Great post, sadly it is much easier to just assume that they are not proper protesters and ignore the cause. I suspect Patel and the others are happy with this.
Interesting, so your happy with the right to not protest? Would you let the government slowly turn you into a robot and be happy living in a world where you can’t make a mistake without it getting logged onto a system somewhere? They want control of people and this is the first step, frightening really in China facial recognition can determine class even from how people walk. They were protesting about the police trying to stop protesting. Bunch of unwashed idiots, letting off flares outside the police station, shouting **** the police, calling them wankers etc.
Police should've tear gassed the lot of them for breaking lockdown rules.

I have read that and yes they have a right to be angry, that said I also have the right to think they’re a bunch of protesting ***** [emoji106]
People probably thought the same about Albion fans back in the dark days.
With these new laws I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t have let thousands of football fans March along the seafront !

None that I know, but violence isn’t the real issue, we wouldn’t have gained permission in the first place, they just wouldn’t have allowed us to protest !Was there any violence on our marches along the seafront?

A man was in Westminster magistrates court for playing dominoes too loudly recently.

The right to peaceful protest should be part of the constitutional bill of rights.........................oh bugger we don't have a bill of rights................ But what we do have is laws and this proposed new law gives greater sentencing powers for offences against statues greater than those for committing lesser sexual assaults upon women.
We might not agree with protesters on many subjects but we should defend their and our right to to protest, otherwise when it is time for you or I to stand up and be counted that right may no longer be available, so what comes next is incerection
