Mike79 - I think you missed my point. Clubs don't have an inherent/static playing style, that is brought in/implemented by the manager. After all, we were not a particularly possession style team before Poyet came along. West ham were not a hoof&run club before Sam Allardyce came in and so on.

Players that are good/adaptable enough will do well, those that don't will be shipped out and more appropriate players to that playing style will be brought in.

Norwich signed two players from us, who both were moving up a division and who we received compensation for. While it was sad to lose two of our better players, this happens all the time in football. Why so bitter?
Totally agree. No different to us getting promoted, then having a good year. Gus then gets offered a new job, leaves and wants to take one or two of our best players with him. Not beyond the realms of possibilty.I am sure we would not like some of the crap that is being written on this thread about Norwich if that happened. Players move on, people should get over it.

not sure joining a club with a poor squad who were almost relegated will help him too much

Villa are needing some reinvestment there is no doubt of that. But to say the entire squad is poor is a bit of a stretch....majority of players this past season were here in the MON days and he had us nearly in CL.... Injuries and a clueless manager led us to near relegation......

Ely, Cambs.
It seems odd how Villa knew about the contract clause, I wonder how they found out.
It couldn't be that Lambert maybe TOLD Villa could it? :)
