Weird one?

Usually so articulate but he repeated over and over not to blame anyone and not to lose confidence etc. I can't work out if he was just gutted at the result or if they'd all had a bollocking from the coach! I am not trying to look too deeply but seemed very deflated. Hoping it's just the result and not a more ingrained issue.

Post and pre match interviews are so boring I tuned out of them sometime in the 90s. What did I miss?

He’s clearly hurting, as I suspect were the whole dressing room he’d left behind for the interview. He talks about no blame as there have been a catalogue of horrible mistakes that have cost us games. He talks about unity as that is what he knows it takes to come through these spells.

I’m mystified why anyone is struggling with his interview or finds any of it weird.

His body language was odd. Hopping around. Lacking eye contact. Saying the defeat "doesn't matter". All a bit strange. Probably nothing in it but I do wonder what's gone on behind the scenes. If anything.

He did seem a bit weird and out of his normal composure but I just put it down to getting beaten badly and probably they all just got blasted in the changing room. I don’t think it’s anything serious.

I posted this on the match day thread after the interview was aired - I thought perhaps I was the only getting that impression and thought afterwards I was reading too much into it:

“A bit of a United We Stand speech - Lama has such a good attitude - he’ll make a great coach one day.

I does sound like there may be a bit of blaming and shaming amongst some of the players in the squad - but that’s up to the manager to put a stop to if he can get over airing his own frustrations with individual players (if that is what he is doing) - it’s only natural players are going to be frustrated even angry if a teammate makes a mistake, we see little passive aggressive reactions in the heat of a match moment all the time but it should stay on the field imo - not a good dressing room environment for youngsters if there’s a loss of unity in the team - it could easily undermine their confidence- the message from Lallana seems to be to the fans and team likewise, stick together, don’t point fingers, if we lose game’s it’s not worth damaging the confidence of players over or behaving like the sky is falling in.”

I must admit after RDZs post-match interview, I felt like everything was fine generally but I wonder if he’d gone into the dressing room post match and given the some of the lads a bit of a pasting?

I expect all will be long forgiven by Thursday and thoughts of Fulham well behind them.

Good questions. Honest interview. Definitely gave the impression that there'd been some arguments in the dressing room after that, which wouldn't be a surprise or particularly unusual. Wonder if he felt some of the stuff flying around was unfair though. Sounds like the youngsters are losing heart a bit and maybe copping some flak. A lack of confidence among them would also be understandable as they haven't got the experience to see the bigger picture.

Probably something that one good result will fix - let's hope so.

I've watched it today for the first time. I agree, his body language and general manner were quite unusual. Somewhat strange indeed.

Just seen this interview. It wasn’t weird or strange. If I am to read anything into it, it’s that he’s trying to lift and encourage some younger players who might be doubting themselves.

I also thought it was a strange interview compared to any other he's given but he's hurting like everyone. We don't know what is said in dressing room and never will but imagine some harsh realities have kicked in

He looked shell shocked, tired, forlorn. His fidgety analysis that not too much needs to change came across as waffle, he didn’t want to be there.

He’s a winner, the awful PL form would hurt him.

Someone said to me today they are playing like they know the coach is leaving, the intensity is lacking no one’s busting a gut tracking back or really trying to score. I’ve never seen Gross mess up like absolutely pathetic.

Well if we believe everything in the papers he (Roberto) has a choice of either Liverpool Manchester United or Barcelona so likely he will be off if any of them come calling.
