I believe the bass player with The Long Tall Texans is Mark Carew,he went to Patcham Fawcett School, good chap:thumbsup:

Spot-on Flumpster - I've known Mark for a good few years now, & can comfirm that he's a thoroughly lovely guy.

ps I'm not sure when that LTT footage was taken, but Mark has hardly aged at all! Makes me sick, quite honestly. :censored:

That was taken in 1989 at a club called the Hummingbird in Birmingham, a feckin great all day psycho gig. Mark is a top bloke and Theo the drummer is an Albion fan, A few years back in Berlin after there set we got hammered and started singing ALLLLBBBIIIOOOON to bewildered Giant German Psychobillys :lolol:

Ps mark supports Arsenal i think

Saw them all at the Klub Foot in London, I even appear on a couple of the album covers... When the KF shut down they had 14 nights of bands and I went to all of them, I was a right mess on day 15. King Kurt were amusing but never really a psycho band. Their used to be loads of Meteors T-Shirts that showed the Meteors mutant f***ing the King Kurt rat! Texans were great, raved about them so much my parents went to see them...they used to do lots of street busking as well. The lead singer of the Krewmen (MD Cole) lives down my way now and looks ridiculously old, but is still doing the rounds.

Went to an all dayer in London, lovely little place in New Cross full of psychotic Irish pissheads who wanted to fight. Good days...

Fantastic bounce on this thread. Cheered me up no end. Nice to know there's still a place for no holds barred music.

I think it was the Venue - dirty great hall. Time and alcohol dulled the memories of that one. Didn't fo the Ling Knives or weekenders, work never seemed to coincide with any of them. It looks like the Meteors are doing lots of German stuff now that the recording studio is out there, which is a shame. Tried to get them into Portsmouth in the last couple of years, but no-one round here will touch them.

I did notice that MDC now wears black nail varnish. He wouldn't have made it to the stage in the old days...

Restless were kind of unfortunate in that they were not part of the psychobilly scene, but more of a new rock n roll/rockabilly band. They were also being hyped as a bit of a boy band, good looks, etc, which I don't think really helped them with the crowds. They were a bloody good group though, solid and skilful, and should have done far better than they did.

Saw a band called "Get Smart" as well - more an old style group, with a black singer. Despite the psychobilly scene being quite open and tolerant, I saw them suffer horribly at the Klub Foot.

I also saw a band called the Splat Cats that were booked to support the Meteors, and clearly no-one had ever heard them before, least of all the person booking them - I watched them in Fulham, and then told them that would honestly be slaughtered. I then drank pretty much most of their rider and told them I would see them at the Klub Foot! For some unknown reason, very possibly alcohol related, I ended up on stage with them when they were being canned and bottled by a very hostile crowd. Thankfully I was fairly well known and only attracted a few gently lobbed cans of cider which I caught whilst flicking V-signs at the highly amused Krew/Kattle! However, I did help them get their gear out of the venue and shagged the singers girlfriend back at the hotel. A good night all round...
