I remember going to see them as an impressionable 15 year old in Portsmouth in 1984. Fantastic psychobilly haircuts, bananas, blokes in dresses, tar and feathers, foam. f***! Those boys knew how to party.

Got banned from Top of the Pops for tarring and feathering everyone within hitting distance. Anyone else remember them?

Oh yes - saw them at the Fridge at Brixton. They threw offal and other aninal body parts everywhere - it was carnage! Also fun was when they got the most pissed audience member on stage and funneled a pint or two of alcohol down their necks in the hope that they would throw up everywhere. They even had some kind of device to spin them around so that the vomit would be spread as far as possible.

*sighs* those were the days...

Sounds like a club 18-30 holiday, except the fun would take place on a sunny beach.

Never saw them (I was only 11 in 1982), infact I don't remember listening to them much but I did own some of their excellent Tshirts, resplendent with a big rockabilly rat. My mum loathed them, which was clearly the whole point.

Personally I preferred the Meteors even though not quite as wild. Also I seem to remember a 3 piece from Brighton were quite well known in those days. Anyone remember their name?

I so want to go gigging with every last one of you that replied to this thread.

As it happens I'm off to see Black Rebel Motorcycle Club on Sunday. Anyone else going?
