I'm thinking more about the future. If we buy our big money signings by 30th June. It gives us more scope for the next 3 sets of accounts.
I dont think we are going to sell many more players for £100m+, so using it to counter balance our PSR as much as possible makes sense to me.
It’ll make very little difference. The transfer fees will be amortised over the length of the players’s respective contracts, which are likely to be 4-5 years.

If we want to sign both Dewsbury-Hall and Summerville,I would imagine it would cost us in the region £70m. I think we need to do both deals before the 30th June as it would appear on the same set of accounts as the likes of Caicedo and Sanchez. That would help us keep out of trouble of future PSR (or whatever its called) trouble.
I don’t think we’ll ever need to worry about that 🤣

You do realize that if they were both signed for that total figure and both on 4 year deals then it would be a £17.5m hit on the accounts for each year, not one hit of £70m.

Chelsea literally don't care. And i dont think Leics will bother to stick to the rules either sadly.
It has gone relatively quiet on this one with only some speculation that we may go back in for him.
As you say, Leicester may decide that they won’t stick to the rules, and fight any points deduction.
They look in a bit of a mess to me in that they are losing some out of contract players and have lost their manager without replacing yet. Who knows.

Really struggling to get excited about this one.
I only started watching him when our interest was mentioned. Admittedly he was playing at Championship level but I thought he looked like exactly like what we needed last season on the games I watched and I was only concentrating on him. Question is can he do it in the PL?

Oh some other questions are

Are we genuinely interested
Can we afford him
Do Chelsea want him
Does he want to come here

I only started watching him when our interest was mentioned. Admittedly he was playing at Championship level but I thought he looked like exactly like what we needed last season on the games I watched and I was only concentrating on him. Question is can he do it in the PL? - Hard to say. He played 31 games in the EPL in 22/23 and 28 plus European games in 21/22. He didn't set the world alight, but he was in a struggling team and generally playing second fiddle to Maddison and Tielemans.

Oh some other questions are

Are we genuinely interested - Seems that we were interested in him in January. We don't know whether the interest remains, but with us, it usually does.
Can we afford him - Depends on Leicester's need to sell. If they don't have to, probably not.
Do Chelsea want him - Chelsea want everybody, but they may have to sell before the end of June if they want to buy anyone by then.
Does he want to come here - If his comments from January are to be believed, then no. He's a localboy and his preference seems to be to stay at Leicester.
My guesses are in green against your questions. I think the situation is that we tried to take advantage of Leicester's FFP problem in January. They decided to gamble on promotion and they won their gamble. We don't know whether they still have to sell players to satisfy requirements before 30 June, but he'll be one option if they do. If they don't, he'll stay, or will be out of our price bracket because they'll not be motivated sellers. If they do, but our interest has sparked interest from clubs who'll pay the transfer fee and offer bigger wages, then he won't be coming to us anyway.

Personally, I think that we missed our chance in January and won't be getting him, but I know our recruitment team have done wonders in staying engaged with players who we've shown previous interest in, so you never say never.

This is the only aspect of this transfer which makes it still remotely plausible.

Leicester would have to be concerned enough about points deductions to sell one of the best players (I personally think they will reason that they would prefer to take a 2 or 4 point penalty, but I could be wrong on this). +

Leicester decide that if they are going to sell, it has to be in this financial year +

Chelsea et al, decide that if Leicester insist a sale must be in this financial year, they are better off backing away +

We're still interested, +

Hurzeler hasn't got any alternative ideas which he would prefer us to pursue and we agree to that +

KDH wants to come to us, as opposed staying, or seeing if a bigger club come in later in the window, +

Nobody else, like Villa or someone come out of the woodwork and gazump us.

The stars would have to seriously align for it to happen

But why didn't we actually sign him (or try harder to sign him) in January if we were serious? Instead we (allegedly) offered £20 million, right at the end of the January window - which was half what they wanted in order to sell and gave them no time to get in a replacement. There were no other teams in for him then and we still had Europe. It's much more difficult now!
Because it was a token gesture to make it seem like we were trying to back RDZ. There’s a reason it came out in the media, imo.

I expect they'll just sell Gary Lineker's dad's market stall to themselves for 150 million quid.
Or his brother Wayne’s Ibiza Bar - Linekers in San An :lolol:

Can’t believe those two are brothers, Wayne comes across a total dick on an Ibiza documentary I watched recently, but has done well for himself. Ibiza life has taken it’s toll on his younger brother
