RDZ was given Dahoud, Igor, Pedro, Milner, Adingra, Baleba, Ansu Fati and Verbruggen in the summer. That's a lot of wages and fees..

So the idea that he's not been "backed" is really pushing it .
Dahoud- free, directly replacing an outgoing player
Milner- free
Fati- loan
Adingra- returning from loan
Baleba- far from ready , directly replacing an outgoing player
Verbruggen- directly replacing an outgoing player
Igor- directly replacing an outgoing player

Sorry but that is not backing your manager in any real sense.

This thread needs a bit of context.

We have signed a number (6?) of 18 and 19 year olds, of whom maybe one (Barco) will join the squad immediately. The rest are for the future.
West Ham (I'm watching their game against Bournemouth now, and Phillips has made a howler on his debut), have got rid of Fornals and Benrahma.

Who has had the better window?

I'm more concerned about RDZ than any actual knock on effect performance wise not getting first team ready bodies in.
He does seem like he is a losing a bit of patience and he is super volatile.

Is the question with a view to 3 years down the line or achieving something this season?

Wages.
Fees are only part of the equation.

I guess this sums up football forums but this thread has to be up there with the most theories and guesses I’ve ever seen on a transfer 🤣 when 90% of them are probably utter nonsense… but that’s what you get on these sorts of threads / football fans forums…

Is there a reason I can't see Pedro on your list?

Oh absolutley. I'm sure TB will give you his blank cheque book to write whatever it is you are dreaming of, afer all he's only put in a few hundred MILLION quid into the club.

Better still, why not start a campaign for some fat Boner Billionairen American to take over and squander a BILLION quid and be lower than us in the PL - or some head chopping Petro State and fcuk the morals.

Who needs this Bloom bloke with his measured, sensible approach to football eh? Bin I say, BIN !!

People can argue the toss on whether De Zerbi has been supported or not, although I don't think it's as simple as a binary yes/no, but the real point of interest is whether De Zerbi feels he has been backed. Because perception does not always marry up with actuality.

And, my gut feel is that De Zerbi will feel he's not been given the tools he needs, and that new contract will remain unsigned for the foreseeable.

And a load of people demanding that our owner spends money we don't have (as well as complaining that we're customers and not fans any miore no doubt)

Surely all signings have to replace an outgoing player at some point, or we'd have a squad big enough to reenact The Longest Day.

It may very well have been, but a quick look on Spotrac indicates Kudus’ salary at West Ham is the same as Adam Lallana’s. Gulp.
Not sure the value of Lallana is all in his playing, or, if his wage estimate is accurate, whether it reflects that he came on a free.
Might have been the figure of a release clause that was the stumbling block as you suggested, but we would have to know if it was a reasonable sum or far too low to say the club dropped a bollock. Even then, what looks a reasonable sum today, might look like peanuts in 2 years time.
