I thought Mayo had a shocker last night, every time the ball got to him. He rushed his passes, when he had time to find a pass. When he was running back to defend, their winger out paced him by a country mile. I think Rents should of been given a chance last night.

You know that you're in the wrong when even Kev agrees with you!

The fact is that we didn't change the team because we were 4 unbeaten, with 3 of them wins and didn't conceed a goal in the last game!

I mean FFS, people like Munkfish, Badger etc wanted fuckin Molango in the team (probably ahead of Revell) and i would stake pretty much everything i own on our record being far worse with him in the team....no wait, it is far worse :salute:

Fraser played a poor pass that almost let them in in the first half, I presume since the word BACKPASS was used Buzzer was referring to the one in the second half when Mayo tried to sheperd the ball out of play, realised it wasn't going, and played a poor backpass to Henderson which nearly landed us in it.
Such an insignificant, minor incident that I don't even remember it. Sorry. Unlike Fraser's dreadful backpass.

But, hey! Neither lead to anything, except an opportunity for the usual tedious suspects to slag off Mayo.

Errr, no, that pass was from Mayo. It's best when trying to make others look stupid not to do so to yourself.
One, I haven't tried to make Munkfish look stupid - he's pretty much accomplished that himself. Two, I haven't made myself look stupid. I was referring, as was Buzzer, to a backpass made by Tommy Fraser. He knows it, I know it. I was merely justifying my points as to why I thought Kerry Mayo didn't play as though he was incompetent. So where was the stupidity?

I would try and be sarcastic and say 'nice try' in believing you could make me look stupid, but in reality it was a pisspoor effort.

I think it's gone slightly the other way now with Mayo, if he has a poor game/half of a game people jump to his defence even more than they would everyone else claiming he is "constantly slagged off" etc etc He had a poor second half last night IMO, first half I must admit I wasnt paying great attention although I did note one lofted pass/clearance when under no pressure that seemed to be some kind of Rugby tactic. I always am the first to say Mayo played well if he does but last night I think he was poor second half and don't see what the problem is with stating that.

I wasn't trying to make anyone look stupid, I was commenting on your ability to. :lolol:

I presumed Tubthumper was referring to the Mayo incident as he used the word backpass, indicating a pass to the keeper, as opposed to Fraser's which was intended for one of the centre halves and as such was not a backpass.

I'm afraid so.

Got to disagree there, Allen was on the edge of the technical area for almost the whole of the second half and largely to instruct the striker to run their right channel against mayo. He then brought on another player clearly giving him the same instructions as he seemed to be man marking mayo rather than the other way round! To be honest I think Mayo coped OK with it but Allen realised that our left side of defence was mayo and butters, neither the paciest players and tried to exploit that.

Not that I noticed them having a great deal more success with the switch.

Well tbh if they were to score against us from anything other than a set piece I would be truly shocked! They did get in behind a couple of times, one particular incident when Dean "I seem to be everywhere on the pitch at the vital moment" Hammond was back helping out but as you rightly say they offered little attacking threat all night.

Which argument? You asked me a question about whether I thought you were wrong, and I answered it concisely.

If you're talking about whether I thought you were talking shite about Mayo's performance, go back to page two of this thread.

I agree. I seem to recall the phrase "suicidal backpass". There was only really one like that and that was Fraser.

Please can we stop this personal vendetta against one of Brighton's most loyal players. Please?

I now understand that Fraser's suicidal pass in a backwards direction was not a "backpass", because (a) it didn't involve the goalkeeper and (b) it wasn't made by Mayo.

I apologise for any inconvenience caused.
