Fascinating.
Lets knock this bollocks on the head about properties with 5 to 10 ha of agricultural land being farms. They are just houses which due to history of the property ended up with some land. I live in a small village & within 250 yd radius of my house I can name 10 houses which come with a field or even a couple of fields not one of the is a farm. Some are used for pet horses, one for pet pigs, another for pet sheep, some are rented to real farmers for grazing/hay & a couple the field is just left because they can't be bothered to rent them, out even though they had tenants on the fields when they bought them.

Does this count the same for poultry farms?, I'd assume they are way smaller than typical cow/sheep/crop farms but still farms nevertheless.

I suggest you address this to the people at the government who compile the statistics about holding sizes.

As I wrote earlier, I don't give a shit either way about what qualifies as a "farm".

The Daily Mirror's take on the new Conservative and Unionists party's newly elected leader is unsurprisingly not positive :)

Why is it considered racist to say that "not all cultures are equally valid"? The row about Saudi ownership of Newcastle and golf tournaments, and the row about Qatar being host of the World Cup, is exactly because those cultures were held to be not valid compared with our own.

Certainly the looming threat to Afghanistan cricket, because the Taliban won't allow a women's team, will be defused completely if it is unspeakable to suggest that the Taliban culture is not as valid as our own.

Wasn't targeting you personally it's just you were the last to have any comment on it so apologies if you thought I was getting at you.

My 250 yd radius doesn't stretch as far as the one poultry farm left in the village but then it does have a lot of other fields as well.

Here's a peak behind the curtain for everybody.

One of my teeth cracked in two the other day, and I've got an appointment this afternoon to have it removed/drilled out/whatever the hell they're going to do, so I'm on a slightly shorter fuse than usual.

Anyway, arguments over farm sizes- not interested. Potential confusion over units of measurement in some government statistics (including some CHARTS) - I'm all over that shit.

Hope the dentist is kind to you, plenty of pain killers & gentle on the wallet.

In a move that has taken experienced Westminster-watchers by surprise, @Sid and the Sharknados has been appointed the new Shadow Secretary of State for Agriculture.
I see Victoria Atkins has been appointed to that role, incidentally.

I'm only aware of her previously for that time a couple of months ago when she went mental in the house of commons, and I'm pretty sure she referred to Junior Doctors as Trainee Doctors while she was Health Secretary.

Not entirely confident she'll be on top of converting from hectares to acres. But maybe she'll surprise me.

Genuine question RB (because I don’t want to get embroiled in the thread particulary) relating to a point I made above:

Dyslexia and the rights of people who are neurodivergent are obviously really important to you (as they are to me too) so what do you think of Kemi’s comments about autism and it being a mental health condition or just a form of ‘anxiety’ that people should ’work on themselves to improve’ and her implications that neurodivergence gives you opportunities and benefits not afforded to others ?

Do you think she would fairly represent neurodivergent people or even understand the nature of their condition and obstacles they face (which you yourself have raised many times) ?

Perhaps read the response of the autism society before you reply

I would love to read this but way too much for me.

If you can give me just a few bullet points on her views as I don't know of them. Please stick them on the autism, dyslexia or ADHD thread, whatever that is relevent.

If you don't, that tyrant mod.....you know the one, will be banning us, just because that's what he does, whilst whipping his member to an inch of its life.

Whenever I've seen her on TV, she's always given me the impression of a psychopath, just woken up, gone for a quick cross country run through a few hedgerows and consumed 2 lb's of hash cake for breakfast before joining Naga and Charlie on the sofa for an incoherent chat 😳
