The proud scouser with an apprentice degree, Gillian Keegan, managed to lose a 22500 majority here. I think the local constiuency reason for electing a Liberal was that Ms Keegan was not very good at anything. I think the electorate here was reasonably well pissed off with the Conservatives, they'd been losing seats on the District Council to the Liberals for some time.Reform effectively are simply Liberal lite in the same way that UKIP were before them. not in policy but in their effect on the make up of parliament. Nobody who votes Liberal expect them to win a majority and form a Government, their number of seats in the house generally rise and fall based on how pissed off the electorate are with the Conservative Party. I accept that some Liberal MP’s get elected for local constituency reasons.
In neighbouring Havant, the Conservatives held the seat with Labour second and Reform not far behind. I've never understood how Havant (which makes Crawley look nice) is so Conservative. Those pissed off in Havant voted Reform and 100 more of them would have meant a Labour win.
