The Government have said they have enough ventilators at the moment, with more coming.

They might well be lying, but I have not read that a patient has not been placed on a ventilator because the hospital had run out.

Other EU countries have had far higher death rates than the UK. Did they not get enough ventilators for the EU? My last point is not a dig at the EU, just a question.

This 100%.

Germany is the only democracy in Europe and North America earning deserved credit.

At the beginning of this some parts of the media and the usual NSC candidates who always benchmark the terrible UK against everything’s amazing elsewhere, mentioned the wonderful healthcare budgets and facilities in France, Italy, and so on.

Scroll on three or four weeks, and those countries have awful COVID19 death statistics. Certainly nothing to aspire to.

It didn’t need a magic wand, to not stubbornly refuse to accept the 10,000 ventilators available through the EU scheme (nor to lie about it afterwards).

It didn’t need a magic wand to take up industry offers to develop and supply more.

It didn’t need a magic wand to close the schools two weeks earlier, before the virus took real hold.

Keep supporting the government blindly, if you think the severity of the situation, absolves them of any objective or constructive criticism. Some of us will continue to call out dangerous bad decisions, when we see them being made.

There's always one looking to blame and point the finger, we are in a world crisis, but you know better than all the scientist and people in the know.

Come on give it up, and support people all trying to do the best.

Should have known YOU would be that one.

Hang your head.

Who gives a flying **** about scoring political points apart from politicians looking after their own interests. Whoever was in Government when this shit happened was facing the unknown, especially after Emperor Xi Jinping lied through his teeth about the scale and effect of the virus in China. Is it so difficult to come together and pull in one direction to attempt to defeat this pandemic, without unnecessary vitriol and then get back to the never ending blame culture afterwards?

This.

Even McCluskey, Blackford and Sturgeon have buried political hatchets in this pandemic, showing dignity and praising measures they thought they’d never see from a Tory government.

Then there are handful of eternally miserable NSC class warriors hoping things go wrong, never willing to praise, on a keyboard journey to influence others. As we saw in December, they emphatically don’t.

There speaks a man who seems to think he really does know better than the people running the country, it’s laughable.

Must be very warming to be so convinced that you are always right, makes it easy to be so dismissive of others mistakes. Of course if Starmer had been PM none of these mistakes would have been made

Most of us accept that mistakes have been made and will continue to be made as we MUDDLE through something that is still not really understood fully. I’d rather support than knock in this catastrophe that is not of our or the country’s making

Wasn't Starmer the director of public prosecutions when opportunities to catch and prosecute Jimmy Savile were continually missed? Great leader if that's the case.

HKFC is right. You tiresome, sycophantic Tories who don't like us nasty non-believers holding them to account for their predictable shit-show can all get stuffed. It is no surprise that the people here moaning at HKFC for not getting behind the government are almost exclusively Tory lap dogs.

But for the rest of us, they're a crap government who have made a bunch of predictable incompetent mistakes. As well as the many that hans kraay fan club points out, you can also add the mixed messages sent out by Gove - an overgrown schoolboy who looks like he wants his bottom spanked - who then wonders why people aren't paying heed. Again, odd that a man who has spent 3 years telling people we've had enough of experts, suddenly expects people to do everything they say.

You seem a really nice bloke, but your constant whinging and attempts to shut down debate when it is these useless Tories being held to account really IS sickening.

Sickening.

They don’t sicken me. Instead for them, frustration and a bitter hatred of opposing politicians and other voters, for at least a 15 year chunk of their lives this time around. Every setback such as Brexit or a GE result, taken very badly. Never seeing any good in others who don’t match their own politics. Seeing the pandemic as a political opportunity.

That comes with a rigid thinking mindset, any psychologist will tell you that’s not good for one’s health.

This is total nonsense though. Credit where it's due - they were relatively quick with their furlough plans. Impressively so.

But really, anyone left of centre has no obligation to blithely pander to this government's actions, especially when they lie and show general incompetence. The lying over the EU ventilator programme was an absolute disgrace. And news for you - just because you think you're in the right in backing them, doesn't mean you actually ARE right.

You, HWT and some notable others, imho, always come out of these threads with credit, balanced comments (believe or not). Genuinely critiquing matters. I’ve never wanted political debate censored on NSC.

Whilst others, from the left and right, are so one-eyed it’s impossible to take their constant sniping (1,000’s of posts, all of the same ilk) seriously.

Simster the dimster are you one of these who are on social media point scoring because you THINK you know better?

If so I would stop it NOW, as everyone will label you as being a sad c*** , and it will stick, feck your political views and look at the action and what has been achieved by so many in such a short time.

You and your mates pick holes only in the government if you want to find scapegoats that are killing people, then look at the twats who go for a picnics, have parties, run around in a crowded park and so on.

I saw a bus full of private double-decker bus full of young people get off one by one to go shopping at Tescos today, it just needed one to have Covid19 on that bus.

Was that the government fault?

There will be a ton of people that you and the media and others can call out just for your political agenda when this quietens down but in the meantime show some solidarity and grow up.

Your hate for a tory is just the sort of dumb f*ckery that is inexcusable in this worldwide situation.
