The KO stages don’t start for another 4 weeks. Chances are he’ll be named in the squad on basis that he’ll be fit and able to play a role at the business end of the tournament.

Can’t clubs refuse to release injured players? Although I notice RDZ said he wouldn’t hold back players from representing their country, so maybe that’s why we haven’t blocked it?

This is bad news in respect of Mitoma and Adrings . They needed the break to recover and I thought that the injuries would at least give them rest. Instead of which they are jetting off to join the national squads. If they are passed fit to play by their squad, and get worse injuries….. do we have redress? I doubt it.

They will have a break it might be more therapeutic for them. If the are declared fit near the end of the tournament they will get game time so as long as they don't get injured again we get them match ready and up to speed. It's all good as far as i am concerned.

Zero chance Mitoma will play unless he’s 100%. The Japanese were critical of us for playing him too much and risking injury (hence they left him out of the lat internationals).

One suspects that the relationship between the club and Japan's football authorities might be strained given the previous issue when he did not play for them in the autumn and their accusation that he was being overplayed, and that this might have something to do with their decision to include him. perhaps they simply do not believe he is THAT injured.

I love how the media talks like managers are in sole charge of transfers. As if we were still in the glory days of Brian Clough. Is it because they base their "information" on playing Football Manager for an hour or two?
