But this is our model. Pick out talented players that made a wrong move or are undervalued. Philips was brilliant a year or 2 ago.
Brilliant? He played a few good games for England with Rice alongside him. He did well for Leeds for a while in Bielsa's system where every player runs around incessantly until they get injured. I didn't notice any brilliance.

Phillips was a great player at Leeds. He doesn’t become a bad player overnight. I’d take the chance if the finances worked.

However I suspect he wants to return to Leeds as soon as that becomes possible so I would doubt his motivation a little until then.

Ticks all the boxes:

Once half decent, now crap.
Horribly expensive.
Cast-off from a successful big club.

A perfect Everton signing. I'm sure it'll all be "corruption" when they are found to have broken FFP rules again in 3 years after about 15 similar piss-poor signings though.
This.

Not overnight, but over 3 or 4 seasons he has. He’s lost his way quite a few years ago, for whatever reason, and once this happens players rarely come back; his best days are behind him. A big fat no from me.
