The energy charter treaty (ECT) is a system of secret courts that enables companies to sue governments over policies that would cut their future profits. Companies have sued over phasing out coal-fired power stations, ending offshore oil drilling and banning fracking. The UK’s Climate Change Committee said Britain should withdraw from the ECT because recently proposed reforms did not go far enough.
The UK and Japan are the only major economies not to have committed to exiting the ECT. “
Good one, Mystic Crodo!Dale Vince one of Just Stop Oil's main funding sources today issued a chilling warning of more high profile disruption to sporting events. I think there could be huge disruption at the Open later this month and the British Grand Prix is sure to be a target as the jewel in the crown of British Sporting events.

you're just rationalising voting tory againAre you suggesting a Green Party government would be best for Britain in an economic crisis? Because Labour aren’t offering much different on the climate front, and only then from a position of no accountability as the opposition.
as dangerous as the ocean boiling away?Really stupid someone is gonna get killed before long. Events like GP are dangerous to be running onto the track. I say stop just stop oil
are you referring to cold fusion? It really isn't difficult to do a bit of basic research.
If by 'get away with it' you mean 'not cause medium term irreversible climate change', then no I don't think we can. I think humans will continue to use the oil and it will continue to have a negative effect on the environment.do you think we can burn all the oil and just about manage to get away with it?
I'm gob smacked because of all the sports surely F1 is the worst most climate polluting sport?? The global nature criss-crossing all of that equipment across the world every other week not to mention the fact it is a sport driving cars round a track, the emissions must be huge. Not to mention it's status as the biggest and best annual sporting event in Britain.Good one, Mystic Crodo!
Maybe NOT protesting is the way to go (or maybe not) – there was wall-to-wall coverage of what JSO were going to do at Silverstone, but funnily enough, when nothing happened, there was hardly a murmur. The only thing I heard was a brief reference to it from the Scottish reporter on SSN (Craig Slater, is it?) saying something along the lines of 'thankfully there were no protests'.
And that was it
Well, you said it yourself, it's the 'jewel in the crown of British Sporting events'. Who are JSO to try and stop that platinum-tiered carbon-munching, ozone-layer-bothering juggernaut?!I'm gob smacked because of all the sports surely F1 is the worst most climate polluting sport?? Personally I'd have a bit more respect for JSO if they had tried to disrupt the F1 yesterday. At least it would have shown them to be fully committed to their cause rather than being a few 'look at me' types just going for easy targets.I'm gob smacked because of all the sports surely F1 is the worst most climate polluting sport?? You think risking the wrath of the Barmy Army at Lords is an 'easy target'? Fair play to you. At least you have some respect then.Personally I'd have a bit more respect for JSO if they had tried to disrupt the F1 yesterday. Certainly if compared with the F1 crowd, not to mention the speeding cars. I mean snooker, tennis, cricket, Chelsea flower show - not exactly renowned for hard core response are they? If they were going to disrupt the cricket they would have had a tougher gig at Edgbaston or Headingley. All they would expect at Lords is a few in 'scrambled egg' ties choking on their pintsYou think risking the wrath of the Barmy Army at Lords is an 'easy target'? Fair play to you.
They did that last year. Looks like the mere threat (not from them) of anything happening again was enough to get people talking!Personally I'd have a bit more respect for JSO if they had tried to disrupt the F1 yesterday. At least it would have shown them to be fully committed to their cause rather than being a few 'look at me' types just going for easy targets.
And yet here we are, weeks later, talking about protesters protesting at the cricket!Certainly if compared with the F1 crowd, not to mention the speeding cars. For a man so rattled by Just a stop Oil, it’s odd because they only operate in England so affect you in no way whatsoever.f*** everyone else hey.
f*** the people who have to get to work, hospital, home.
So long as the virtue signalling Boomers can do their thing.
These dickheads could stand on the side of the road with a sign could they not?
Honk for climate change would work better than their current strategy.
do you think civilisation will be viable come the end of the century?
it might, as the ice caps melt less solar energy is reflected out to space. there are many occurrences which could result in the planet's temperature running away. no one will know until it's too lateYes. All out nuclear war could end that, but climate change won't.
i did think it was wishful thinking, sincerely hope your dream comes true!It really isn't difficult to do a bit of basic research.
Humans have already lived through many periods with no ice at the polls.it might, as the ice caps melt less solar energy is reflected out to space. there are many occurrences which could result in the planet's temperature running away. no one will know until it's too late
