Alternative question:

Are you happy for your children and grand children to live in an environment where meteorological disasters occur on a regular basis, where large parts of the planet are uninhabitable, and where billions of people are forced to seek alternative places to live?
Billions? Erm…where’s that crime from….not modelling again…..been there a couple of years back…and you throw out accusations that people dont care just because they dont agree with you 🤦‍♂️

Edit…oh i see where you’ve got that figure from ….the JSO website ..nothing to be questioned there then …sigh

You quoted me saying criminal damage is a crime. I’ve never disputed that but draconian laws have been passed by the Tories to make peaceful protests a criminal offence.
No conspiracy theory just plain facts.
Yeah and you referenced Liz Truss and shell …so hows that linked to anything about a protest near the King…..so you dont agree with criminal damage caused by JSO?

The police, especially the Met police, have been given carte blanche to treat any protestor when it’s criminal damage or a blank card, in exactly the same way.
Members of the press have been locked up, and equipment confiscated, despite having press credentials.

Why is this government so intent on further oil exploration when renewables can have investment? I’ve already posted a link to oil donors to the Tory party.
Try reading the links I’ve provided instead of having a go back.

This government has benefited greatly from the JSO protests.
They've forced through some appalling anti freedom laws while their media have been in a frenzy.

When this government benefits - I get suspicious.

Normally that would make me part of the 'tin foil hat' brigade which wouldn't be unfair, and would certainly be out of character for me.

But we're talking about THIS government not A government.

Soo you’ve ignored the criminal damage bit …Met Police…..pffft…from what ive seen a lot of the time (not all) they just stand by and let the ’protesters’ in the road get on with it and arrest anyone who dares to move them out the way.

Erm….sun and wind isn’t going to supply us with all our needs when one doesnt shine and the other doesnt blow….so right now that oil is needed …and are you saying that renewables aren’t getting investment …its not the case from what i can see and its having to be paid for

This is from 2019 but lists Tory MPs taking over £1M in donations from fossil fuel companies. We are still paying the highest energy bills in the world, especially the standing charges, and the Tories are trying to remove or discredit renewables.

I wish more people were protesting!
When you taking to the streets then…ive already posted my protest for tomorrow

I see, and when was the last time the “road bellends” did anything on a road, because I haven’t seen anything about them for months at this stage.

Do I think non-existent protestors should do something they only do in your own head these days? No, I don’t.
Yesterday?
Stopping someone claiming they had to get to hospital and forcing them to drive on the pavement.

I would think it's because it is essential to have fossil fuel backup to renewable power sources. It is untenable to have a power grid that cannot provide a consistent supply. No matter how many wind farms we have, if wind is a significant part of the power supply, we need an alternative source for when the wind isn't blowing.

An odd take.

I've not seen a single individual protest designed to win people over.
I don't imagine the thought process was 'yeah hopefully they'll all walk home'.

It was probably something like 'lets get on the news and get more publicity'.

They'll want publicity, but surely they'll want people supporting their cause, not against it? If they want policy change, they're not going to get it if the majority of people are against them.

Doesn’t Starmer also back these strict laws?

They've done nothing to suggest they are even the slightest bit concerned, making them tough to love, even for those of us predisposed to do so.

It is yet another protest which will be indelibly marked on the conscious of their fans, their haters, and the ambivalent - which is exactly what they want.

Well their actions are not going to bring about any reduction in oil use, so it's all just a waste of time.

you mean apart from halving CO2 emissions, near eradicating coal, generating 24GW from wind? dont know why the steps we've taken keep getting understated.

Understated you say.

Is is because while this is happening the government are still spending billions of your tax pounds on new oil developments, and apparently getting massive kick backs too?
