Yep. Scum. And so is anyone that still supports them.
Also news breaking of private discussions with Dyson on personal texts between him and Johnson assuring Dyson of tax breaks if he makes ventilators.
Lovely people.

Yes, this is the way things work in the Old Chum Network. Dyson and/or some of his senior people are fine to come back and throw their weight behind a rapid increase in ventilator production.... just as they don't risk paying more tax.....Obviously, a skilled technician who machines and assembles ventilators who works a 60 hour week instead of a 40 hour week to help save lives WILL see an increase in his Income Tax, mostly because he doesn't have Rishi's or Alexander's number. This is how things work.

Government does all it can to try and increase ventilator availability at a time of national crisis calling on UK manufacturing to help, setting up the Ventilator challenge initiative. Uk company steps up and invests 20m of its own money to try and develop more ventilators but asks for assurances it's workers returning to the UK to help wouldn't be penalised through the tax system ... government agrees.

Opposition party who called for everything possible to be done and praised the Ventilator challenge scheme at the time, now apparentely outraged the government did exactly what they called for and now claim the government making sure workers (including Doctors) returning to the UK to help wouldn't be penalised through the tax system is "sleaze.

Desperate times for the opposition and social media Tory haters obviously ....

In 2003 he dumped UK manufacturing, then he moved his tax base out of the UK to Singapore

Brexiters, backing Britain.

£20m loss, my heart bleeds for you James...

and of course if you're in need of ventilators the first most obvious person you turn to is a tax dodging billionaire and Brexit supporting Tory party donor who makes vaccuum cleaners. call me naive but I would have gone to a ventilator supplier....

All the PPE, pharma, ventilator and other such suppliers just happen to be Tory party donors or freinds of Tory party MPs, must be a huge coincidence

What does it say, also, about someone worth 14bn who avoids contributing to the UK economy in a discussion about people's lives his first question is to ensure he continues to not contribute to the UK economy, I mean we can't have that now.....

If only someone had highlighted it at the time

14 days ago, the Government asked for help.

Since then, The Ventilator Challenge UK Consortium has pulled together 15 companies and groups, including seven UK-based F1 teams, and five ‘key enablers’ including Accenture, Microsoft and PTC to rapidly build existing, modified or newly designed ventilators at speed.

The group of hi-tech firms and manufacturers are this week, scaling up the existing production facilities on existing ventilator designs which have full regulatory approval. They are helping Smiths Group ramp up production of ‘pacPARC plus’ ventilators to 10,000 units starting yesterday. Similarly, they will help Abingdon-based Penlon increase the production of its ES02 systems.

Also, as part of the group, Engineers from UCL and doctors at University College London hospital (UCLH), together with Mercedes Formula 1 have developed an improved continuous positive airway pressure (Cpap) device in less than 100 hours from first meeting to first production model. This machine has been approved for use for the NHS by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), the body which regulates medical equipment for use in the UK. If testing of the first 100 delivered last week, goes to plan, they will start producing 1,000 per day from next week.

Last week, Dyson became the first company to reveal it had received a formal contract from the UK government to provide ventilators, despite being asked (along with the others) to wait until the Government announcement. They have announced that they have invented a CoVent prototype, which as a completely new design, will need regulatory approval from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

A bit more info on what's currently happening.

Now, I have never been a fan of the company Dyson as I see them as an Image, Marketing and Sales company, a very good example of style over substance. (Although, that said, they do it very well). They do have some engineering experience, but not even in the same ballpark as Formula 1 teams, and I think that is reflected in the progress to date.

And as with so much at the moment, we will only know long after this is all over, which was right

And how many ventilators did Dyson produce after breaking the embargo in order to get their name all over the press and take advantage of this great marketing opportunity in the middle of a pandemic ? Zero

5th column? Let’s look at what that means, “A fifth column is any group of people who undermine a larger group from within.

I think your upscaling the fun boy three, more like a few middle class head spinners ranting on a football forum, hardly undermining wouldn’t you say [emoji6]

Bottom line- not one ventilator delivered by Dyson. Have some dignity and stop supporting everything this sleaze riddled, corrupt, lying government does to their country.

This 100%.
Defending this is despicable. But predictable.

5live covering " Alleged " dodgy lobbying as I type. Most callers seem either accepting of the sleaze as " This is how things have always been done" and " I'm really pleased that Johnson tried to get things moving fast on ventilators when we were dying...." and one message suggested the biased BBC are trying to do a character assassination of Johnson to suit their own ends...

So there you have it, most people either don't care or don't understand what has been going on. Expect another 5 more years of Tory " government ".

Bottom line, succesful businessman offered to help this country in its hour of need spending millions, government removed tax disincentive for workers of the company and others including Doctors to come to the UK to help while Tory hating numpties claim its appalling sleaze and would be on here complaining if it had turned out the government had turned down Dysons offer to help and had kept measures taxing people coming to the UK to help.

If being labelled as such means I don't agree with tax avoidance, cronyism, hypocrisy, and people who lie about Brexit in return for special favours then i'm comfortable with that

You’re either very naive or just one for those on here who will argue black is white if someone criticises your beloved Tory party. Either way, shameful.

They just love having their forelocks tugged by Brexiters that have essentially turned their back on Britain

And we're apparently the 5th column collective for highlighting Brexit deserters, cronyism, contracts for mates etc

Anyway, in the end proper UK medical manufacturers stepped up, that knew what they were doing and delivered certified product. James went back to Asian made Hoovers ..

Basically Dyson offers to “help” but needed assurances via private text form Johnson that he will “fix the tax”.
Why were no government officials present at these discussions, as is the law when discussing government matters. It should not have been conducted via private text. It’s not just what they were doing, it’s the way they were doing it.
Are you telling me that Johnson was in such a blind rush that he didn’t have time to convene an official meeting? Had to be done on text.

Why shouldn’t Dyson pay tax? If he’s being handed a million pound contract? People on factory lines putting PPE together paid tax on their meagre earnings.

That's the view if you're wearing your brexit specs, in the real world it's called corruption
