oh gosh.....there you go with your links again......

my cousin is somewhat of a shooter and him and his crew will frequently kill 60 plus foxes in a nights shooting......at 3 quid a head it more than covers his ammo and piss....don't know the why's and wherefores but have seen the pics of landrovers full of toby's.........fox hunting is surely right up there with the ducking stool and burning at the stake as far as bastions of English culture go ...no...? ???

Yes me and my backing up what I am saying with evidence so it can be easily checked tsk tsk :)

We paid a few people to get rid of foxes from our (my in-laws) farm. Can't say i would want to do it my self but those boys certainly got rid of a lot of a lot of foxes and rabbits in a couple of days. Far more effective than chasing one fox about for hours on end only for it to maybe get away or maybe get ripped apart by dogs.

The veterinary profession is made up of around 24,000 registered veterinary surgeons.

http://www.rcvs.org.uk/about-us/about-the-veterinary-profession/

Who said how many the question was posed to? It also does not mean that the other 23,500 disagreed. If that was the case, do you not think it would have been publicised? I can garuntee you that is 23,500 veterinary surgeons were against hunting foxes with hounds, then it would not be taking place anymore in any form.

I am at work and have limited access to the internet. NSC is one of only a few site's I can get onto. If you type into YouTube "fox being killed by hounds" there Is a video in which you will see that the fox is dead within seconds. No more evidence than that needed. I can also give you a few other links when I get on my own PC.

Can you give any evidence to the fact that fox hunting is 'cruel'? I'm doing a lot more here to back up my side of the debate than any of you that are against it are??? That speaks volumes.

Well how about the fact that it was banned in England in 2004 after the government carried out an independent report and then the mp's voted for by the people were given a free vote to decide whether to ban it (I assume they all read the report) or not. After that free vote it was overwhelmingly decided to ban the sport.

How many foxes are killed during one hunt? Sorry, I do keep asking but maybe you could answer it?

Sydney's cousin gets about 60 in a night that seems pretty effective to me.

The only thing I can see you backing up there is how many veterinary surgeons there are registered. Nothing to do with hunting.

I'm not debating with you the best way to deal with a high number of foxes. I am telling you that a fox 'ripped apart by dogs' is dead within seconds, almost instantly in most cases. A fox shot with a gun is MUCH MORE LIKELY TO SUFFER. In an individual case by a profficiant marksman this may not be the case, however earlier in this thread I provided you with the statistics as to the percentage of foxes that suffer at the hands of people who shoot multiple foxes with the gun.

Don't get me wrong, i'm all for shooting them. The less of the little blighters the better. I'm simply stating that there is also nothing wrong with hunting them with hounds, in fact they are likely to suffer less.

Please forgive me for not accepting your "facts" and "assurances" as proof of anything. I look forward to seeing your evidence when you get back on your own computer. I am also not accepting a youtube video of a quickly killed fox as proof of anything.

I can't speak for every hunt, but personally I have been on days when there is no sniff of a fox and I have also been on a day when i believe about 7 were dispatched with. Seven would be classed as a very very good day, although i'm sure there have been days with more.

No need to apologise. Just so I don't waste any time, can you let me know what you will accept?

You were telling me that hunting with hounds was the most effective way to cull foxes and not just an excuse for some blood sport.

A full and frank retraction of your views on the topic and and you immediate registration to an anti fox hunting group of your choice, follow by a promise to undertake the sabotage of at least 10 hunts in the UK in the coming year...... oh and I would like you to become vegetarian.

Apologies accepted. Born, bred and grew up in a basement flat near Preston Circus. Went to Downs junior School and Dorothy Stringer. Stood on the North Stand Terrace. Family don't have a pot to piss in, but don't let that detract from your argument.

I grew up near Preston Circus, went to Downs and then Stringer, and stood on the North Stand Terrace.

I don't recall anyone with quite such a lust for blood and murder in these hallowed environs. What in the name of Philip Schofield's ruptured Marmite tunnel happened to you...?

How do you suppose he find them? Lay's in a field all night? How many do you think would even wander into that field once they got wind of a human scent in it?

Well our keeper is doing pretty well, 67 so far this year, dropped off a lot over the summer with the crops, but has ramped back up post harvest.

I don't have a big issue with fox hunting, it tends to be the older, sick foxes that tend to be hunted down, but i struggle to see how it is the most effective and humane way. Single shot with a rifle (not a shotgun), will drop a fox where it stands.
