As with everyone I have this debate with, you can see that the undertones are more at a personal level than anything to do with animal welfare.
You were having the debate with me, but I haven't attacked you or your lifestyle, I simply pointed out the dogs ripping a fox apart is not humane. Animals in the wild dying of starvation is not inhumane, because we are not causing it.

We all know that the law is, in large part, class-driven revenge for the Tories' smashing of the miners' strike, and the privatisation of the nationalised industries.
There will always be a minority of people that have strange motive for something that the rest of us have genuine reasons for disliking. I don't support the minor strikes, I'm more tory than labour, but I am against blood sports.

I may be wrong but I have a feeling you are middle classed went off to boarding school and never really bonded with your parents, possibly bullied, never felt any real love, extremely rich and have no real soul???? just a feeling I get from your posts apologies if im wrong

Apologies accepted. Born, bred and grew up in a basement flat near Preston Circus. Went to Downs junior School and Dorothy Stringer. Stood on the North Stand Terrace. Family don't have a pot to piss in, but don't let that detract from your argument.

Unfortunately the age old argument of "You're only having a go at us cosd of our class" is being flung out again. No, people have a go at you because foxhunting is for dicks. Proven by the fact that your ladies are so bored with you posh twats they feel the need to get into their undies and seek attention on Facebook.

To be honest I am quite enjoying having this debate, even if it is with the un-educated.
What I will say though, is that there is no real need to finish every post off with some sort of personal 'I'm cleverer than you' comment
:lolol: so he's not supposed finish his posts with 'I'm cleverer than you' comments, but it's ok to start your posts with an effort to patronise. Remarkable.

ignoring the sheer inhumanity of fox hunting, only around 5% are killed each year so it is not an effective method of controlling their numbers.

I'm not saying you are incorrect, but could you provide a source for your figures? Curiosity mainly. Does it show the percentage of rats, mice, rabbits killed by pest controllers each year?

Rats are usually killed by poison. They ingest it and then go off and die a slow and painful death. Caused by humans. Is this inhumane?

Again, i refer you back to my post where it is FACTUALLY documented that hunting foxes with hounds IS the most humane was of controlling their numbers and death is almost instantanious.

You mean the way you keep avoiding how does anyone with an ounce of humanity justify watching another animal killed by dogs ??

I will apologies about my comment maybe I was stereo typing which I am sure we are all guilty of you included with your slur on left wing, as before I am far from a lefty so we both lost our stereotype/class arguement

Im confused your against poisening rats but okay to fox hunt ??? not sure what point your raising there and to compare fox number to rats its madness not that I agree with how they are killed maybe your right there should be a more painless way to kill rats if they become a problem maybe thats a different argument, not sure how you can see that rat poison is painful and cruel but cant see fox hunting is, back to the facts you are on a horse chasing a frightened animal which is then torn apart by dogs please give me 2the fact2 that make that right

We could carry this on all day if you want, but everything I have to say on this subject is backed up by fact, documented fact.
No it isn't. You haven't given any facts to show how getting dogs to rip up a fox is humane. What you have attempted to do is say that anyone disagreeing with you must be a leftie that isn't happy about the Tories stopping the minors strike. You're not fighting your argument with any facts, you're just pretending this is about something else.

The name gives it away
See what I don't get Junior is your assumption that unless we control the fox population by hunting the countryside is going to be overrun with our furry friends/enemies* (strike out which you feel is the most inappropriate).

Now as we have banned foxhunting for about 10 years, (forgive me if I have got the date wrong but it must be about that), and unless the hunts are carrying on breaking the law, then it really hasn't happened has it. Just seems that we don't really need foxhunting to control foxes, so it must just be because hunters 'enjoy' doing it and thats what I think most of us find distastful. I think finding pleasure in destroying something for fun somewhat unpleasant.

By all means chase your laid down scents over the countryside if thats your thing, but don't make out your doing hunting as a service to mankind or the farming community.

They really are contrary buggers, those Quorn folk. Somehow, selling veggie-burgers AND hunting fluffy animals, seem rather incongruous. What ever would Linda McCartney think?

Ha ha bring it down to basics !! lovely.

And this was supposed to be a thread about posh totty in hunting gear!

Christ, I only said I thought it was cruel, and I log in a couple of hours later and there's 3 pages of arguments.

The fact of the matter is that the death of the fox is inhumane. It can be sugar coated as much as people like but it just is.

I don't believe there is the need for fox hunting. Natural selection and survival of the fittest I believe keeps the fox population in check, as do road deaths, on my commute to work across the countryside I regualrly see plenty of dead foxes. This alone kills more foxes than any hunt ever could in the same timeframe.

I understand the tradition and heritage of it all but it doesn't have to happen any more, the world has moved on.

On a personal note, when I was a kid I was on a countryside bike ride and ran into a hunt on a country lane, there must have been 20 or more riders and I couldn't count how many hounds, when I tried to ride through I was met with sneers and such a snobbish attitude by some riders that I felt shit and remember thinking "who the f*** are you to look down on me with contempt" that ever since I've stereotyped the hunt as a "sport" for the rich and snotty upper classes of this country. As I've got older I've learned that its not just the rich that partake in it but ky mindset will probably never change.

How many dogs and horses does it take to catch a fox? The odds aren't exactly in the foxes favour are they and its not very "sporting" to be that outnumbered.

I know when I come to die I want it to be quick, the idea of being chased until I can run no more, have to take shelter, then being dug up and atttacked by dogs doesn't really appeal,

If I was a fox I'd rather be shot dead or hit by a car at 60mph, you're not going to know a lot about it.

Hare coursing has been long banned for being cruel, and I can't see a lot of difference in the 2 "sports".

Junior what are your thoughts on Hare Coursing? Should that still be allowed?
