Brighton. NOT KEMPTOWN!
A rare event - the sun's shining!
Our Council needs to save £ 34 million.
Chicken feed.
You can't even buy a third of a decent football stadium for that money now-a-days.
The storage area behind the south west corner seems to be less cluttered.
Bull-nose edging on West Stand seems to be causing a minor problem.
The bottom 10 feet or so of the cliff behind the West Stand is being concreted.
Still no trees.
3 lots of 5 today.

They're not concreting the whole of those cliff edges are they? Thought they were going for something a little more atheistically pleasing.

Thanks as usual though JS.

Had presentation this morning and the chap that took us to the viewing platform said the cliff edge appearance would be "softened" but wasn't sure how or what with.

When you see it close up it is just stunning.

Thanks for the updates

Bull-nose edging on West Stand seems to be causing a minor problem.

Looks as though it is.
Going by the details on your pics, you were there about 10.45 this morning.
I was there just after 9am and they've taken more of the edging down from the southern end of the west!
Spoke to the guys on the cherry picker, they said that the whole slope will be concreted and the flat areas at the top will be grass.

Great pics again.

Did you ask them about the bull-nosed edging?

At that time I thought the edging was going back up again (as it has been this week) so didn't bother.

Slapped myself on the wrist.

No problem. Just wonder what it is with that particular part of the construction. Just never seems to be 'finished'.

Thanks for the update much appreciated as usual. That last pic of batch two, how I WISH that was going to be a car park.

The cuts are clearly hitting deep. Great pics as always Mr Straw.

That's cherrypickertastic mate.

Batch 2, photo 4. Is that Easy 10 who is chained to the top of the west to highlight the decimation of the local bat population?

Disappointed in the picture of the guy clinging onto the vertical beam. No visible evidence of a safety harness! I would have hoped that all their activities would have method statements and risk assessments which, if adopting a modern HSSE Construction approach, would have necessitated a safety harness being used when working above grade.
Still, enough of my safety preaching, that apart the whole thing looks bloody marvellous.

I wonder if they could try turning those concrete cliff's into a kind of 'living wall' by growing some plants on it? It would definitely make it easier to the eye! Something to keep the Eco-warriors happy with as well.

Would they not have to put some kind of vegetation on the banks, if only from an erosion/drainage point of view???
