He gave us entertainment, important goals and points. We may not have stayed up without him.

Completely disagree. Some really important performances and goals. One of my favourite players from the PL years and let’s face it there is a fair amount of competition. Oh and I was at West Ham; what a goal !

Same here, At first glance it seems to me his knee issue got so bad as we were playing him until the end of the season (through necessity) when he could have done with ending the season early and going off to have his knee op.

He offered next to nothing when he played.
He was clearly unfit.

Hughton seemed to only play players he absolutely trusted and wasn't prepared to guve someone else a go when needs must.
I think he made a massive mistake with Izzy.

Such a shame injury blighted the latter part of his Albion career. At his very best he was a skilful & exciting player who had the ability to rip defences to shreds. Appeared a genuine and modest person too. Wherever he ends up, I wish him the best of luck.

Watching his goals video... we've so missed that flair player who's all about pace and trickery. An attacking player who scares defenders, and makes them back off us.

Our priority signings should be a striker, left back, and an Izzy type winger.

Yeah I agree with this, I've been saying the same thing for a couple seasons now and it was one of the reasons I was pissed we got rid of Knockaert.

IMO Knocky (and Izquierdo though hes been injured) was the one player we had left that would actually run at defenders and try beating them with a piece of skill, rather then trying to pass or hit the ball past them and run.

We definitely lack flair, Biss can pull of outrages moments of skill but he's not a winger/wide player.

Whats crazy is we used to have tons of exciting wide players.

Hmmm but hardly a complete success either. Obviously the fact that his time with us was dogged by injury didn't help, but admittedly he came up with the odd cracking goal, and a fair few assists when fit.

Consistency was his big problem, something that can be aimed at a fair few Albion players.

I know he wasn't as effective in the Premier League for us but I disagree that he didn't still at least try take on defenders, also when he didn't have the ball he ran (sometimes recklessly) like mad to try get the ball back.

You could say how frustrated he was when things didn't go his way too, which I liked.

I've not really kept an eye on him since he left us tbh, so I can't comment on his form since but I do think he got a bit of hard time from some fans during his time with us in the Premier League. Some of the comments I would hear in the crowd were ridiculous at times.

Part of me always thinks "cuts inside and shoots" whenever I think of Izzy. But, like Knocky, he did get you excited. Trossard has been playing really well but when he burst into our team as a super sub I thought he might be as good as mint-period Hazard. But it's all about team play now, Mavericks are no longer wanted, which I agree can be a bit boring and, while it's not really the case, it does seem somewhat coached out of players nowadays. Which is a shame really.

Agree with this. Last player to run the show was Knocky at home to Manure. The junior fans of today must have a real quandary wondering what player to have on their replica shirt. Not one shirt seller in the squad.

Not really……even if they aren’t ultimately first team material for us, we’ll more often than not still profit from them. Same with our own academy - doubt more than 1 or 2 in 100 of the U15 scholars will ever make the first team, so should we scrap it ??
