Who is YOUR joke club of the season, the contenders are:

Palace - Always going to be involved but their GroupOn deal has made them strong contenders for the crown

Pompey - Yet another administration and some ridiculous signings on stupid wages, another 'big' club relegated to the third tier

Liverpool - Bookies favourites, the Suarez affair, King Kenny guiding them to mid-table, the 'best' fans, however they could still come away with 2 trophies

Newcastle - An outside bet with their Sports Direct Arena nonsense but other than that they've had a great season

Rangers - Being part of the MTL is enough but I'm not going to list every team, Rangers are the obvious choice with their horrendous financial mismanagement and being docked 10 points to drop from 2nd all the way down to 2nd

Leicester - Spunked a fortune on Sven, sacked him and could only limp to 9th place despite being pre-season favourites

Spurs - 'arry has worked wonders by turning title contenders into an outside chance of making Europe

POLL to follow.

I honestly don't think anyone can even begin to compete with Pompey, at least not in England.

Go into administration with massive debts, largely accrued through your own greed, come out with a CVA in place, completely fail to pay all the people you owe money to via the CVA, say a great big "f*** you" to the rest of the clubs by signing players on £20,000 per week despite having just come out of adminstration, and then- the piece de resistance as far as I'm concerned- plummet BACK into administration with every single penny previously owed still outstanding, sobbing to the world that it's all the FA's fault, and having somehow accrued an additional £20 million worth of debt in the meantime.

Take a bow, Portsmouth, take a bloody bow. BRAVO

LCFC come 1st for me literally by an INCH in front of Pompey and Rangers. All that money may as well of been burned with them finishing 9th (one place above last season)

It's tough to vote against the Groupon / Buy one get one free / 'you burnt your own town' clowns....

but Pompey get it, by a country mile. What an utter embarrassment they are.

Pompey are the biggest disgrace, but I greet their demise with BITTER SATISFACTION, and a sense of justice, rather than MIRTH.

Liverpool's fabulous record at Fortress Anfield, of FIVE wins in EIGHTEEN, is undoubtably FUNNY.

Good poll Badger, although there is a small mistake in your post - the one where you say that Portsmouth are a "big" club.

The answer is probably Portsmouth, although Rangers are a close second. To be fair, the joke there is more likely on the SPL, just for the utter pointlessness of the penalities and punishments they are attempting to dream up.

It's quite funny how the MTL are trying to treat Rangers, and even more so that Rangers are deeming any of it to be unfair.

Equally, it irritates me to see Celtic being so smug about it all, as firstly I'm fairly certain their finances can't be all that either, and secondly because they would be nothing without Rangers. Let's face it, the only thing that makes their lives worthwhile is beating the other side. If all they ever had to do was beat Aberdeen or Dundee United or Kilmarnock, it would rob them of the one thing that keeps them going.

Makes you realise that spending and buying lots of new players might not be the answer to have an improved season. Perhaps a better bet would have been for them to have stuck with more or less the squad that got them 10th the year before, and invest in 2, 3 or 4 exceptional quality players, rather than signing 15 new players, loaning in 3 more and shipping out 4 players pre season and then a further 11 during the season as well as loaning out 18.

Obviously my tongue was firmly in my cheek when I wrote 'big', hence the single quotes (perhaps I should have gone for double quotes).

I see your point about Rangers and the MTL, obvious winner of the Joke League title for the 20th year running (no poll required)

I think you should have included Wolves personally. An abject lesson in how not to handle a managerial situation. Take a decent manager going through a bad patch in a tough league. Undermine him in front of his players in the dressing room. Sack him with no planned replacement and then make such a public shambles of finding a replacement that you end up having to appoint a likable assistant who is completely out of his depth plunging you from relegation dogfight to relegation certainties.

To be fair, the fact that Wolves have struggled is no surprise. They didn't exactly tear up the PL last year, and it's not uncommon for promoted clubs to have one half decent season, then fail after that. Which is exactly what's happened. I don't think it makes them a joke club on the same scale as Pompey or Rangers. Or even just comedy, like Liverpool.

Agree - not on the scale of Liverpool, Pompey or Rangers, but they need a mention. Their ownership is a joke in my opinion and have shown they are not up to the job.
