Wow ! Utmost respect to Ms Derbyshire, fully understood the facts and called out his bullshit and headed off his attempts to twist the story to place Johnson as a victim. Good on her !
She did very well but that MP is an awful liar. Boris is the expert in deception, this cringing oaf has a long way to go in the dark arts before he can compare himself to his master. A demolition job.

I think he meant salient rather than questionable.
Perhaps. I do realise that the comment left itself open to interpretation (though many do), so let's have a go at that.
I was talking specifically about parliamentary democracy -- within the context of the Parliamentary Select Committee report into an ex-PM, and the key connection there is that it is parliament that has control/power in the last instance even over the executive (whether you consider that to be a PM, the Cabinet, etc) -- which both the report and the entire episode demonstrates in my view.
But, yes, democracy is more important (if that's what you meant by salient) than parliament. It's also more questionable than parliament as an idea. It's also more questionable that we live under democracy than it is that we live under rule by parliament.

It's exactly the same as the last 7 years. Johnson acolyte gets confronted with a few facts and crumples completely, but it's Victoria Derbyshire's fault for making it obvious that he doesn't understand what he is talking about (or as some would have it 'calling him thick and stupid') with her condescending questions :lolol:

Woke BBC presenter. What a shock. Just cos she has an education, she thinks she can talk to a man like that. It’s just his opinion FFS! He is allowed an opinion on Boris cos last time I looked, we was in a democracy. Boris only had a peace of cake but there is a witch-hunt cos he got Brexit done. Cancel the BBC and the korupt committee what is full of lefty, wokerati remainers.

'Why does this 'JOURNALIST' think she has the right to ask QUESTIONS to people? Who does she think she is?'

I can see/hear the comments now

What is the meaning of witch hunt in Oxford dictionary?

noun. /ˈwɪtʃ hʌnt/ /ˈwɪtʃ hʌnt/ (usually disapproving) an attempt to find and punish people who hold opinions that are thought to be unacceptable or dangerous to society

.... unacceptable and dangerous like lying to the country, his peers, his partner, his colleagues and probably even to himself. If that is the definition then I suppose it is accurate, except it does not include reference to the weight of evidence accrued, the damage caused to the people he was supposed to be protecting (Brexit, Covid lies) and the attempts to undermine and/or intimidate anyone who speaks up against his mendacity.

Due process was followed: sound, extensive evidence provided and conclusions drawn.... then Johnson did what he habitually does, he took the cowardly way and ran away from it, declaring himself a victim and the system flawed.

Please let this be the beginning of the end of his faux 'public service' to the country.

Incredible public support for Johnson on 5live this morning. I'm not sure that they fully comprehend the findings of the Privileges Cmt or the implications of a Prime Minister lying to the house repeatedly. To that we need to add his contempt towards the Committee members and that he revealed elements of the judgement when specifically warned beforehand it would be contempt do do so.

Imagine the wailing had Starmer been found to have lied even once to the House...from a position of opposition ?

I would love to see this as a turning point in British politics and that politicians on all sides that we need to start again and rebuild trust and honesty or we may as well not bother at all... the likes of Johnson and Trump need to know that the media, public and their own parties will not accept lies any more.

Agree with everything up to your last two 'questionable's. I don't disagree with them I just don't understand what you mean by them.

I find them questionable.

I thought I heard it referred to as a fact hunt the other day.

Then I realised it was someone describing the subject of the inquiry, not the inquiry itself.

I really should get my ears syringed.

He was lying, but don't they all?

Hopefully as a nation we can draw a line under it and move on, he can go on his lecture tours earning millions and still managing to get his leg over ladies well out of his league.

Similarly, whilst he took the p1ss, he did some good things along the way.

I would hope his detractors recognise this, and acknowledge it amidst their celebration of the burning effigy.
What good did he do?

I guess some do, to an extent, but it would be better if they didn't.

The issue with people like Johnson, is that they lie, mislead and obfuscate etc. so much that that’s what they become; a messy lie.

This has been known for years, its not news.

What sort of gong are you hoping for Lenny? MBE for services to propaganda?

Or are you just offering up some easy wins in the big game of Boris apologists bingo?
