fair enough it was studs up and should've been a freekick, but to then go down like he'd been shot and then blatant evidence the boot never touched his head AND there was no scratch let alone blood.....PATHETIC. You're leading our country you overpaid fat bastard now GET on with the game

i still think if that was Chelsea, he would have won that ball, and not bottled out of it, Croatia wouldnt have scored and it would have been 4-0

For example vs Arsenal in the Carling Cup final, Terry went for a low header to stop the goal, won the challenge, stopped the goal, but got kicked in the face aby Diaby I think and was out the game, but saved his team.

Agreed. I don't know why he didn't just play percentages and get his body in the way and risk a boot in the six pack? Basically he f***ed up and risked conceding on the whim of the referee's interpretation and he did NOT get a kick in the face anyhow!

It was a foul for foot up - but the boot certainly didn't touch him - but he stayed down so long he didn't even see the ball go in the net. It's the nasty insidious side of modern football.

Jesus wept..........

HE got kicked in the face and it was a foul. It shouldn't have been a goal and it was Lampard's hospital pass that put him in that trouble anyway.

Give the guy a break. He was very good last night and has obviously inspired some of the players around him. I could tell from the body language of the team at the start last night that we were going to do well and I'm certain that Terry HAS to take some credit for that.

Regardless of contact etc it was a free kick for high feet so most of this is irrelevant.

He was simply copying the Croatians who were discraceful in their diving and feigning injuries like they'd been hit with a howitzer. That's the side of football that winds me up-diving and cheating is NOT a beautiful game.

What do people think of Joe Cole's slapstick-type falling over biz? I know he got clattered by the guy's leading arm & got cut on his bonce, but was he trying to get the bloke sent off?

You're right, it did. I'm not saying his falling down wasn't genuine, but it did look somewhat comical at the time..

I must admit I thought it looked like there was contact, He did make a bit of a meal of it though.

In real-time it looked like he'd been kicked, later replays suggest there was no contact in which case he should have stayed on his feet instead of playing for the free kick. They probably wouldn't have scored their goal if he'd stayed on his feet and chased back instead of rolling around on the ground like he'd been pole-axed.
