John Peel - the album

And the Faces of course!!!

He loved Rod and the Faces ... before Rod sold out with Atlantic Crossing!

and of course Peely played mandolin on the Top of the Pops cut of Maggie May (the mandolin player from Lindisfarne played on the original album track/single)

Really? I thought it was Martin Quittenton who played on that famous 'B' side "Maggie May". Was it Simon Cowe or Ray Jackson of Lindisfarne who played that mandolin part?

Apparenty Jimmy Page played on Rod's first 45 in 1964, so he was off to a good start. He'd also already sang alongside 'Long John Baldry and his Hoochie Coochie Men', which was Cyril Davis's original band before he'd died.
This was around the catalyst of blues in London that was fostered by Alexis Korner, and spawned Graham Bond Organisation (rhythm section which made up Cream), Rolling Stones, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers (see also Fleetwood Mac, Aynsley Dunbar Retalliation etc) and others.

Don't forget Stewart was in the Jeff Beck Group too. I've got their first two albums.

Martin Quittenton played accoustic guitar ... not sure which of the two Lindisfarne guys played Mandolin ... but one of em, I'm sure ... Peely filled in on ToTP

Truth and Orange ... or was it Apple (???) were the two albums .... Stewart's vocals on Morning Dew and You Shook Me are outstanding! IMHO

can't remember just got lucky

Just Got Lucky was I think their second hit - marvellous scenes at Coasters when Rory used to play it.

Oh, apparently it's not an official John Peel album - just a forthcoming compliation called 'Teenage Kicks'.

As you were. :lolol:

I thought John Peel was a big Gang of Four Man. Still, as has been said already this complilation is based of comercial requirements.
