I'm assumming that these are all the released single versions

surely a compilation of Peel sessions would have been more fitting?

and as per previous posts the absence of The Fall, The Weddos and a host of more esoeric acts (wot, no 'The Claw' - Ten Benson) smacks of a 'Now That's What I Call Chart Hits That Peel Played Once Or Twice'

nice collection of tunes but a missed opportunity methinks

What an absolutely bizarre line up for an album dedicated to JP. Starting with his favourite song is fair enough.

There are so many songs there he would never play, the bands maybe but not those songs.

As THPP points out, no Fall and there is no J&MC either or Duane Eddy/Sonic Youth unless this is for the 70's only.

It looks like they have just picked bands and then chosen their 'best' or more realistically, their most commercial song and stuck it on the CD.

It's pretty much the same as about five punk/early eighties compilations my dad's got. Marketing ploy and nothing else
If it's his complilation where's The fall, Nick Drake and dutch techno bands called Uncle touches my dick sideways?

Well it isn't his compilation is it, any true fan can see that. Someone's just trying to make a quick buck off the back of his death.

I won't be buying it

To keep the agreement going, I think it's smacks of a Peel album for people who never listened to him.
I don't imagine his looking down & saying, 'yep that's me on 1 record'.

youd have thought that amsterdam song woulddve been on it, as it was always his favourite 'other' song.

mind you, being on a tiny indie with not many fans i spose putting them on the album wouldnt have been too commercially viable :shootself

Its a bit out of order to be making money from Peel's name by releasing what is essentially a compilation not much different to those 'Cigarettes and Alcohol' ones that are already out.

wow RM, that's a pretty amazing change of opinion in the space of 1 hour.
Going from "looks cracking, when's it out", to, "Its a bit out of order to be making money from Peel's name".

It looks a cracking album and I will buy it BUT it probably does not do Peel justice.

As far as compilations of the music I like go, that is a very good one but as others said it is hardly a representation of Peel's sessions.

I can therefore think it is both a cracking album and also someone making money out of Peel's name and missing some vital songs.

Yes I do take your point.
I'm hiding my light under a Gary (Bushell), because I agree it is a good looking comp album.
But surely the fact that it's obviously all about marketing & nothing about Peel, with the exception of The Undertones, has to make it an appalling album, never to be touched even in the £1.99 bin @ Woolies.

Morris is like that guy in The Fast Show who agrees with a mate's opinion, then changes his mind when another mate chips in, and so on.
